Molecular epidemiology of foot-and-mouth disease (review)

open access: yesВетеринария сегодня
Molecular epidemiological studies are an important tool for regional and global surveillance of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). These tests are based on constantly progressing technologies of nucleic acid sequencing and phylogenetic analysis.

Pathology and viral metagenomics, a recent history [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Human, animal and plant viral pathologies have greatly benefited from recent metagenomics development. Viral metagenomics is a culture-independent approach used to investigate the complete viral genetic populations of a sample.

Maternal Preconception Antibiotic Exposure Disrupts Microbial Succession: A Transgenerational Risk for Offspring Gut Mucosal Immaturity and Colitis Susceptibility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that maternal antibiotic exposure prior to conception disrupts intergenerational gut microbial succession. By enhancing maternal‐offspring microbial transmission, altering microbial developmental trajectories and increasing selective pressures during community assembly, these disturbances lead to persistent gut mucosal immaturity and

Genome-wide trans-ancestry meta-analysis provides insight into the genetic architecture of type 2 diabetes susceptibility. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
To further understanding of the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) susceptibility, we aggregated published meta-analyses of genome-wide association studies (GWAS), including 26,488 cases and 83,964 controls of European, east Asian, south Asian and ...

ZDHHC9‐Mediated Palmitoylation of ACSL4 Drives Ferroptosis in Diabetes Mellitus–Induced Erectile Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.

Secondary integrated analysis of multi-tissue transcriptomic responses to a combined lifestyle intervention in older adults from the GOTO nonrandomized trial

open access: yesNature Communications
Molecular effects of lifestyle interventions are typically studied in a single tissue. Here, we perform a secondary analysis on the sex-specific effects of the Growing Old TOgether trial (GOTO, trial registration number GOT NL3301 ( https ...

Mapping Genetic Regulation of Transcription to Identify Functional Variants and Genes Associated with Pancreatic Cancer Risk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integration of a pancreatic eQTL map with a GWAS meta‐analysis identifies 82 putative functional variants and 15 genes. The association between rs11102484 and pancreatic cancer risk is observed in a total of 5699 cases and 8467 controls. The G allele of rs11102484 weakens ZNF263 binding and the silencer‐promoter interaction, thereby increasing ST7L ...

Genome-wide association study of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy in Japan: the TMM BirThree Cohort Study

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth
Background Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP) and hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), common conditions affecting most pregnant women, are highly heritable and associated with maternal and fetal morbidity.

Gemella morbillorum Promotes Colorectal Carcinogenesis: LPBDCP‐Mediated Invasion Activates Ras Signaling and Destabilizes p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

The bacterial etiology and antimicrobial susceptibility of lower respiratory tract infections in Vietnam

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials
Background Lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) remains the leading infectious cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Key bacterial pathogens include Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli ...
