Principal molecular markers

open access: yes, 2021
Molecular markers are molecular phenotypes originating from any expressed or unexpressed segments of DNA that come from genetic inheritance and lend themselves to the differentiation of one or more individuals. It can be classified into two groups: the first, markers are obtained by hybridization and the second, markers are obtained by DNA ...

Measuring Plant Genetic Diversity Using Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSRS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) have great utility as they are conserved and present in all eukaryotic genomes. Here we report the use of a simple PCR with fluorescently-labelled primers to amplify inter-SSR markers (ISSRs) for diversity assessments.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Molecular marker v1

open access: yes, 2019
SSR and SRAP markers were employed to assess the genetic diversity and structure of sixty-four samples from four populations ofEmmenopterys henryi. Twelve pairs of SRAP primers generated 86 bands, and polymorphism rate was 88.37%. 148 polymorphic alleles were detected by ten pairs of SSR primers, with an average number of polymorphic alleles per primer

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Genetic diversity and population structure of a large collection of Magnaporthe oryzae isolates from italian rice field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Blast, caused by the filamentous ascomycete fungus Magnaporthe oryzae , is the most severe disease of rice worldwide, causing yield loss to rice cultivation up to 50 - 70%.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell
