Molecular Mechanisms of Meditation
Molecular Neurobiology, 2013Meditation is a complex process involving change in cognition, memory, and social and emotional control, and causes improvement in various cardiovascular, neurological, autoimmune, and renal pathologies. Meditation also become widely used in medical and psychological treatment therapies for stress-related physical and mental disorders.

Molecular mechanisms of osmosis
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1989Osmosis across a semipermeable membrane is usually treated in terms of thermodynamics, but the equations for osmosis can also be derived from kinetic considerations. Since fewer solvent molecules bombard the semipermeable membrane from the solution side, a kinetic pressure difference (osmotic potential) is generated into pore openings.

Molecular Mechanisms of Amyloidosis
New England Journal of Medicine, 2003Amyloidosis affects millions of people, as a cause of Alzheimer's disease or a complication of dialysis, and also causes rare conditions. The many forms of the disorder have one underlying principle: misfolded proteins. Prompt, correct diagnosis is essential, especially in the inherited forms of amyloidosis.

The Journal of Pain, 2000
Our understanding of chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain at the molecular and cellular level has developed at an extraordinary rate in recent years. Inflammatory, or neuropathic, neuronal plasticity describes the process by which the neurons involved in pain transmission are converted from a state of normosensitivity to one in which they are ...

Molecular mechanisms of pruritus
Current Research in Translational Medicine, 2016Pruritus is an unpleasant sensation that evokes the urgent desire to scratch. It is a symptom derived from many nervous system disorders that affects a large population of humans and is treated by a variety of pharmacological agents with variable access. Chronic itch is a huge unmet health problem which affect upward 20% of people worldwide.

Molecular Mechanisms of Lymphangiogenesis
International Journal of Hematology, 2004Although the process of vascular development has been well documented, little is understood about lymphatic vasculature formation, despite its importance in normal and pathologic conditions. The dysfunction or abnormal growth of lymphatic vessels is associated with lymphedema and cancer metastasis. The recent discovery of lymphangiogenic growth factors

Molecular Mechanisms of Amphetamines
2019There is a plethora of amphetamine derivatives exerting stimulant, euphoric, anti-fatigue, and hallucinogenic effects; all structural properties allowing these effects are contained within the amphetamine structure. In the first part of this review, the interaction of amphetamine with the dopamine transporter (DAT), crucially involved in its behavioral

Molecular mechanisms of cholestasis
Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift, 2006Recent progress has enhanced our understanding of the pathogenesis of cholestatic liver diseases. Mutations in genes encoding for hepatobiliary transport systems can cause hereditary cholestatic syndromes and exposure to cholestatic agents (drugs, hormones, inflammatory cytokines) can lead to reduced expression and function of hepatic uptake and ...
