The sequence of events of enteropathogenic E. coli’s type III secretion system translocon assembly

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Many bacterial pathogens employ the type III secretion system (T3SS), a specialized complex that transports effector proteins that manipulate various cellular processes.

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Toxoplasma gondii induces MST2 phosphorylation mediating the activation of hippo signaling pathway to promote apoptosis and lung tissue damage

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) is an intracellular parasite, and its regulation of host cell apoptosis directly affects its parasitism. Studies link T. gondii-induced apoptosis to abnormal expression of mammalian STE20-like protein kinase 2 (MST2)

Bilateral SERS‐Microneedle Patch for Co‐Diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus and Tuberculosis Comorbidity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study introduced a U@mP@Au‐mediated bilateral SERS‐microneedle patch for analyzing glucose levels from ISF and sensitively detecting TB biomarkers from sputum, respectively. This integrated dual‐analyte detecting platform can be used for co‐diagnosis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and tuberculosis (TB) comorbidity, which was demonstrated in ex vivo ...

NOTCH1 is positively correlated with IL17F in Helicobacter pylori infection and a biomarker for mucosal injury

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Our study previously showed the involvement of Notch1 in Th1 differentiation in H. pylori-infected patients. However, the role of Notch1 in Th17 or Treg differentiation during H.

Protein Structuromics Reveals a Loop‐Controlled Half‐Open Active Pocket Conformation Throughout Fe(II)/α‐ketoglutarate‐Dependent Dioxygenase Catalytic Cycle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a conserved half‐open active pocket in Fe(II)/α‐ketoglutarate‐dependent dioxygenases through protein structuromics, distinguished by structural features comprising highly flexible loop elements. Enhanced sampling simulations‐guided mutagenesis experiments elucidated how this flexible loop regulates pocket open/closed conformations ...

Identification of a Nonribosomal Peptide Analog With Activity Against Multiple Gram‐Positive Bacteria via a Synthetic Bioinformatic Natural Product Discovery Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The genome of Rhodococcus erythropolis D‐1 was analyzed by bioinformatic tools to mine a novel nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) gene cluster. A nonribosomal peptide analog ZURJC5 associated with the NRPS was chemically synthesized. Through structure‐activity relationship studies, ZURJC28 was ultimately obtained and showed antibacterial activity ...

ZNF33B Promotes Japanese Encephalitis Virus Infection by Regulating the Stability of M6A‐Modified Trim25 to Control the Autophagy Process

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Upon JEV infection, ZNF33B recruits METTL14 to stabilize the METTL3‐METTL14 m6A methyltransferase complex, leading to increased m6A modification of host transcripts, including Trim25 mRNA. ZNF33B selectively binds m6A‐modified sites on Trim25 mRNA and accelerates its decay, resulting in reduced TRIM25 protein abundance.

HLA‐DR+ Schwann Cells Generate the Protumor Cancer‐Neuron‐Immune Niche in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hijacked and educated by HNSCC cells, HLA‐DR+ Schwann cells lost their normal neural‐related functions but acquired immunoregulatory phenotypes to promote CD4+ T cells transform into Tregs. HLA‐DR+ Schwann cells induced a macrophage subpopulation, Il1β.

The Fem cell-surface signaling system is regulated by ExsA in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and affects pathogenicity

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Bacterial interspecies interactions shape microbial communities and influence the progression of polymicrobial infections. FemI-FemR-FemA, a cell-surface signaling system, in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, is involved in the uptake of iron-chelating ...
