Molecular phylogenetic analysis of felid herpesvirus 1
Veterinary Microbiology, 1999The position of felid herpesvirus 1 within the alphaherpesvirus subfamily was investigated using molecular phylogenetic techniques applied to multiple sequence alignments of recently reported FHV-1 gene homologs (glycoprotein B, ribonucleotide reductase and DNA polymerase).

A molecular phylogenetic analysis of the Scarabaeinae (dung beetles)
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2007The dung beetles (Scarabaeinae) include ca. 5000 species and exhibit a diverse array of morphologies and behaviors. This variation presumably reflects the adaptation to a diversity of food types and the different strategies used to avoid competition for vertebrate dung, which is the primary breeding environment for most species.

Moss diversity: A molecular phylogenetic analysis of genera
Phytotaxa, 2014In this study we present phylogenetic and molecular phylogenetic diversity analyses of moss taxa from a total of 655 genera of mosses. Three loci were sampled: chloroplast ribosomal small protein 4, the intronic region of the mitochondrial NADH dehydogenase subunit 5, and partial sequences of the nuclear 26S ribosomal RNA.

PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS IN MOLECULAR EVOLUTIONARY GENETICS
Annual Review of Genetics, 1996▪ Abstract Recent developments of statistical methods in molecular phylogenetics are reviewed. It is shown that the mathematical foundations of these methods are not well established, but computer simulations and empirical data indicate that currently used methods such as neighbor joining, minimum evolution, likelihood, and parsimony methods produce ...

Paleontological data and molecular phylogenetic analysis
Paleobiology, 1994Molecular data are becoming an indispensable tool for the reconstruction of phylogenies. Fossil molecular data remain scarce, but have the potential to resolve patterns of deep branching and provide empirical tests of tree reconstruction techniques.

Molecular Cloning and Phylogenetic Analysis of Canine β-Casein
DNA Sequence, 2000A canine beta-casein cDNA was isolated from mammary tissue by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using degenerate primers. It encodes 250 amino acids protein containing the conserved sequence motif of beta-casein. It showed the highest homology with snow-leopard (Uncia uncia (55-62% identity).

Molecular phylogenetic analysis of Barley yellow mosaic virus
Archives of Virology, 2008Complete nucleotide sequences of three strains (I, III, and IV) of Barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) isolated in Japan were determined. The length of the genome was the same among the three strains; RNA1 was 7,642 nt and RNA2 was 3,585 nt. The molecular phylogenetic analysis showed that strain I was most closely related to the Chinese isolate, and ...

Molecular epidemiology and phylogenetic analysis of Sapporo-like viruses
Archives of Virology, 2002Sapporo-like viruses (SLV) are a causative agent of gastroenteritis in humans. SLV-specific primers were newly designed in capsid protein-coding region and 529 fecal samples collected from gastroenteritis patients were tested. Thirty-five samples (6.6%) were found to be positive by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Molecular and Phylogenetic Analysis of a Novel Turkey-Origin Picobirnavirus
Avian Diseases, 2014A previous metagenomic analysis of the turkey gut RNA virus community identified novel enteric viruses that may play roles in poultry enteric diseases or in performance problems noted in the field. As part of the molecular characterization of these novel enteric viruses, a reverse transcriptase-PCR diagnostic assay was developed, targeting a novel ...

Molecular phylogenetic analysis of the genus Strongyloides and related nematodes
International Journal for Parasitology, 2002Strongyloides spp., parasitic nematodes of humans and many other terrestrial vertebrates, display an unusual heterogonic lifecycle involving alternating parasitic and free-living adult reproductive stages. A number of other genera have similar lifecycles, but their relationships to Strongyloides have not been clarified.
