Using molecular transmission networks to understand the epidemic characteristics of HIV-1 CRF08_BC across China [PDF]
HIV-1 CRF08_BC has become a major epidemic in heterosexuals and intravenous drug users (IDUs) in southern China. In order to evaluate the trends of its epidemic and facilitate targeted HIV prevention, we constructed the genetic transmission networks based on its pol sequences, derived from the National HIV Molecular Epidemiology Survey.

Forensic interpretation of molecular variation on networks of disease transmission and genetic inheritance [PDF]
This paper describes the inference‐on‐networks (ION) framework for forensic interpretat ION of molecular typing data in cases involving allegations of infectious microbial transmission, association of disease outbreaks with alleged sources, and identifying familial relationships using mitochondrial or Y chromosomal DNA.

Sexual networks and the transmission of HIV in London [PDF]
Copyright @ 1998 Cambridge University Press. This paper discusses ways in which empirical research investigating sexual networks can further understanding of the transmission of HIV in London, using information from a 24-month period of participant ...

In China, few molecular epidemiological data on hepatitis C virus (HCV) are available and all previous studies were limited by small sample sizes or specific population characteristics. Here, we report characterization of the epidemic history and transmission dynamics of HCV strains in China.

Molecular footprint of drug-selective pressure in a human immunodeficiency virus transmission chain [PDF]
Known human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission histories are invaluable models for investigating the evolutionary and transmission dynamics of the virus and to assess the accuracy of phylogenetic reconstructions.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae molecular typing for understanding sexual networks and antimicrobial resistance transmission: A systematic review [PDF]
Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) is a significant global public health concern due to rising diagnoses rates and antimicrobial resistance. Molecular combined with epidemiological data have been used to understand the distribution and spread of NG, as well as relationships between cases in sexual networks, but the public health value gained from these studies

Transmission network structure and newly diagnosed HIV infections: a molecular epidemiology study [PDF]
Abstract Background Improved understanding of network structure—one of the driving forces of HIV transmission—could facilitate the design of interventions. We aimed to assess the structure of HIV transmission networks and their relationship to newly diagnosed cases in Hong Kong, where sexual transmission between men prevails.

Epidemic Characteristics of HIV Drug Resistance in Hefei, Anhui Province
To study the characteristics of HIV pretreatment drug resistance (PDR) and acquired drug resistance (ADR) in Hefei, a cross-sectional survey was used to collect 816 samples from newly reported HIV infections from 2017 to 2020 and 127 samples from HIV ...

Using Molecular Transmission Networks to Reveal the Epidemic of Pretreatment HIV-1 Drug Resistance in Guangxi, China [PDF]
IntroductionPretreatment drug resistance (PDR) is becoming an obstacle to the success of ART. This study investigated the prevalence of PDR and the transmission clusters (TCs) of drug resistance mutations (DRMs) in two cities where drug abuse used to be high to describe the local HIV-1 transmission dynamics.MethodsPlasma samples were obtained from 1 ...
