Integrated molecular and affiliation network analysis: Core-periphery social clustering is associated with HIV transmission patterns

open access: yesSocial Networks, 2022
This study investigates the two-mode core-periphery structures of venue affiliation networks of younger Black men who have sex with men (YBMSM). We examined the association between these structures and HIV phylogenetic clusters, defined as members who share highly similar HIV strains that are regarded as a proxy for sexual affiliation networks.

Centrality-Based Sombor Index for Network Systems with Applications to Molecular Chemistry and Disease Transmission Networks

open access: yesTFSS
A number is a graphical invariant in graph theory if it is invariant under graph automorphism. In molecular graph theory, graphical invariants are known as topological indices. Centrality measures are crucial aspects of social network analysis. Centrality measures are used to find famous or influential nodes in a network.

Using molecular network analysis to explore the characteristics of HIV-1 transmission in a China-Myanmar border area

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2022
Background The China-Myanmar border area is considered a hot spot of active HIV-1 recombination in Southeast Asia. To better understand the characteristics of HIV-1 transmission in this area, a cross-sectional HIV-1 molecular epidemiological survey was conducted in Baoshan Prefecture of Yunnan Province.
