High Molecular Weight Plant Polyphenolics (Tannins) as Biological Antioxidants.
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1998Representative condensed and hydrolyzable tannins and related simple phenolics were evaluated as biological antioxidants using cyclic voltammetry, the metmyoglobin assay, and the deoxyribose assay.

Molecular weights and molecular-weight distributions from ultracentrifugation of nonideal solutions
Biophysical Chemistry, 1976Ultracentrifugation, membrane osmometry and capillary viscometry experiments have been performed on two dextran samples, which have molecular-weight distributions (MWDs) similar to those of dextrans used as blood plasma extenders. The manufacturer reported values of Mn and MW, determined by end group analysis and by light scattering, respectively.

AbstractFollowing the molecular weight characterization of two polybutadiene samples, it was found that Mw from gel permeation chromatography with universal calibration and light scattering were in agreement, but Mn by gel permeation chromatography was less than Mn from membrane osmometry.

A novel procedure to determine the molecular weight (MW) and MW distributions for various agars is described. The MW values of commercial agars, an agarose, an agaropectin, and hydrolyzed agaroses were determined by size exclusion chromatography-low angle laser light scattering, using 4.0 M guanidine hydrochloride as eluent to avoid gelation.

Molecular weight dependence of the morphology in P3HT:PCBM solar cells.
ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2014In polymer-based photovoltaic devices, optimizing and controlling the active layer morphology is important to enhancing the device efficiency. Using poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) with well-defined molecular weights (MWs), synthesized by the Grignard ...

After almost two decades of intensive research, low-molecular-weight heparins have established their niche as an important class of antithrombotic compounds. The demonstration that these compounds are safe and effective for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism has led to the licensing of several of them in Europe and North America. In

Abstract A simple micro-method for the determination of molecular weights of chondroitin sulphate has been developed. Columns of Sephadex G-200 and Sepharose 6B were calibrated with fractions of chondroitin sulphate, the molecular weights of which had been determined by independent methods.
