Sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide as inorganic carbon in the unsaturated zone under semi-arid forests [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Inorganic carbon, in the form of allogenic (transported) and pedogenic (soil) carbonates in semi-arid soils, may comprise an important carbon sink. Carbon dioxide, CO2, originating from the atmosphere and exhaled by tree roots into the soil, may be hydrated by soil water within the unsaturated zone (USZ) of semi-arid soils to produce the carbonic acid (

Public knowledge about characteristics of moles and melanomas.

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Public Health, 2010
In a study aiming to determine public knowledge about moles and melanomas 590 residents of Victoria aged 14 and over were interviewed in a face-to-face household survey. The majority believed that moles were primarily raised lesions.

Star-nosed moles [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2005
What are star-nosed moles? The star-nosed mole, Condylura cristata, is one of about 30 species of mole in the mammalian order Insectivora. Although they are rarely seen, they are relatively common in the wetlands of eastern North America and Canada. They weigh about 30–50 grams and have large clawed forelimbs for digging their extensive underground ...

Process Parameter and Dimension‐Dependent Mn Vaporization During Laser Powder Bed Fusion of an Fe–Mi–Si–Cr‐Based Shape Memory Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The functional properties of Fe–Mn–Si–Cr‐based shape memory alloys are influenced, among other things, by their chemical composition. Here, the vaporization of Mn, the most volatile element of the alloy, is investigated. It is shown that the process parameters make noninterchangeable contributions to the vaporization and that vaporization differences ...

Performance Comparison of Surface Sensitizers for Diode Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Polyamide 12

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser‐generated nanoparticles transform standard PA12 powders into high‐performance, dye‐free feedstocks for diode laser 3D printing. Despite identical absorbance at 808 nm, CuS, LaB6, and CB coatings reveal striking differences in fusion and strength—unlocking new design space for recyclable, industrial‐grade polymers.
