Isolation of anaerobic mollicutes from the intestine of swine

Veterinary Microbiology, 1988
Anaerobic mollicutes were isolated from the intestinal content and the epithelium of the caecum and colon of 4 of 8 swine. All of the isolates belonged to the same species. This species was resistant to digitonin and polyanethol sulfonate and was able to ferment glucose, hemolyse erythrocytes and lyse horse serum.

Mollicutes: Mycoplasma pneumoniae

2018
Proven or suspected autoimmune phenomena are frequently associated with infections by the atypical bacterium Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Perhaps the most well-known, and previously a common clinical tool in diagnosis, is the occurrence of cold agglutinins, particularly in cases of atypical pneumonia.

Identification of Mollicutes by Immunoblotting

1993
Immunoblotting (IB) technique combines the resolution of gel electrophoresis with the specificity of immunochemical detection. It is used to detect specific antigens in a protein mixture with an antibody and to evaluate the purity or the complexity of this mixture. Since Towbin described the procedure (1979), numerous protocols evolved during the years

Current Status of the Mollicute Flora of Humans

Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1993
Of the more than 20 species of mollicutes reported to be present in human tissues, 15 have been isolated more than once and are currently thought to typify mollicutes of human origin. In the past decade a number of new and potentially significant mollicutes have been added to the list of species inhabiting humans.
