Recovery of coefficients of a heat equation by Ritz collocation method

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2023
In this work, we discuss a one dimensional inverse problem for the heat equation where the unknown functions are solely time-dependent lower order coefficient and multiplicative source term. We use as data two integral overdetermination conditions along

A Regularization Method to Solve a Cauchy Problem for the Two-Dimensional Modified Helmholtz Equation

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, the ill-posed problem of the two-dimensional modified Helmholtz equation is investigated in a strip domain. For obtaining a stable numerical approximation solution, a mollification regularization method with the de la Vallée Poussin ...

Inverse Reconstruction of Cell Proliferation Laws in Cancer Invasion Modelling

open access: yesMathematics in Applied Sciences and Engineering, 2021
The process of local cancer cell invasion of the surrounding tissue is key for the overall tumour growth and spread within the human body, the past 3 decades witnessing intense mathematical modelling efforts in these regards.

A Numerical Approximation Method for the Inverse Problem of the Three-Dimensional Laplace Equation

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this article, an inverse problem with regards to the Laplace equation with non-homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in a three-dimensional case is investigated.

Study of the response characteristics of the water–force coupling action of hard coal bodies in steeply inclined coal seams

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Study of the pre-blast weakening of hard-top coal water injection is especially important to solve problems related to the low recovery rate of coal resources and frequent dynamic disasters due to the low degree of fragmentation of hard-top coal during ...

Homotopy analysis method for discrete quasi-reversibility mollification method of nonhomogeneous backward heat conduction problem

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2023
In this article, the inverse time problem is investigated. Regarding the ill-posed linear problem, utilize the quasi-reversibility method first. This problem has been regularized and after that provides an iterative regularizing strategy for noisy input ...

Mollification of the fourth moment of Dirichlet $L$-functions [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 2019
We evaluate some twisted fourth moment of Dirichlet $L$-functions at the central point s=1/2 and for prime moduli q. The principal tool is a careful analysis of a shifted convolution problem involving the divisor function using spectral theory of automorphic forms and bounds for bilinear forms in Kloosterman sums.

A Fluid-Structure Interaction Model for Dam-Water Systems: Analytical Study and Application to Seismic Behavior

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2019
We consider a dam-water system modeled as a fluid-structure interaction, specifically, a coupled hyperbolic second-order problem, formulated in terms of the displacement of the structure and the fluid pressure.

Discrete mollification and automatic numerical differentiation

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1998
Numerical differentiation is an unreliable procedure in the case of a function with noise. The authors continue the study of their proposal to remedy this by a mollification procedure. This is based on the idea of replacing the given function by a convolution product with a smooth function of a given type with small support.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
