Effect of Steels on the Purity of Molten Mg Alloys [PDF]

open access: possibleAdvanced Engineering Materials, 2020
Tooling materials used in the synthesizing of Mg alloys can introduce impurities, which can severely degrade the anticorrosion properties for the final Mg products. To address this issue, this work analyze the purity of molten Mg alloys AZ91D and AM50A in contact with three commonly used steels: 20#, H13, High‐CrNi (022Cr25Ni7Mo4N) for different ...

Deoxidation of Molten Steel by Aluminum

Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2015
The deoxidation equilibrium of liquid steel was investigated from a new perspective. Dissolved associate MmOn was used to describe the interaction between dissolved M and dissolved oxygen instead of the interaction parameter of Wagner. The concentration of unassociated oxygen could be considered as the activity of oxygen.

The attack of molten zinc on steels

Materials and Corrosion, 1977
AbstractA new technology test method has been developed to determine the attack of molten zinc on different steels. The tests were carried out with low‐alloy steels, tool steels and stainless steels. These materials were tested in pure molten zinc and in a zinc alloy containing 4% aluminium. The test temperatures were 400–600 °C.
