S transfer between molten steel and molten slag was investigated in view of the electrochemical character of S transfer. C-saturated molten steel containing S was allowed to react with CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO slag at 1673 K (1400 °C) until the two phases arrive at a chemical equilibrium.

Dissolved associate MmOn was used to describe the interaction between dissolved M and dissolved oxygen instead of the interaction parameter of Wagner. AbstractA new technology test method has been developed to determine the attack of molten zinc on different steels. The tests were carried out with low‐alloy steels, tool steels and stainless steels. These materials were tested in pure molten zinc and in a zinc alloy containing 4% aluminium. The test temperatures were 400–600 °C.

Continuous Casting of Molten Steel

Molten steel is solidified in the mold of a continuous casting process after refining. A tundish and an immersion nozzle are installed upstream of the mold. Nonmetallic inclusions and fine bubbles still remaining in the molten steel are designed to be removed in the tundish.
