Electrochemical Transfer of S Between Molten Steel and Molten Slag
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B: Process Metallurgy and Materials Processing Science, 2018S transfer between molten steel and molten slag was investigated in view of the electrochemical character of S transfer. C-saturated molten steel containing S was allowed to react with CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO slag at 1673 K (1400 °C) until the two phases arrive at a chemical equilibrium.

Effect of Steels on the Purity of Molten Mg Alloys [PDF]
Tooling materials used in the synthesizing of Mg alloys can introduce impurities, which can severely degrade the anticorrosion properties for the final Mg products. To address this issue, this work analyze the purity of molten Mg alloys AZ91D and AM50A in contact with three commonly used steels: 20#, H13, High‐CrNi (022Cr25Ni7Mo4N) for different ...

Deoxidation of Molten Steel by Aluminum
Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2015The deoxidation equilibrium of liquid steel was investigated from a new perspective. Dissolved associate MmOn was used to describe the interaction between dissolved M and dissolved oxygen instead of the interaction parameter of Wagner. The concentration of unassociated oxygen could be considered as the activity of oxygen.

The attack of molten zinc on steels
Materials and Corrosion, 1977AbstractA new technology test method has been developed to determine the attack of molten zinc on different steels. The tests were carried out with low‐alloy steels, tool steels and stainless steels. These materials were tested in pure molten zinc and in a zinc alloy containing 4% aluminium. The test temperatures were 400–600 °C.

Continuous Casting of Molten Steel
2017Molten steel is solidified in the mold of a continuous casting process after refining. A tundish and an immersion nozzle are installed upstream of the mold. Nonmetallic inclusions and fine bubbles still remaining in the molten steel are designed to be removed in the tundish.

Water jet atomization of molten steel
AIChE Journal, 1973AbstractData are obtained and a model derived for describing particle size distribution for molten metals atomized by two water jets. The influences of water jet parameters on size distribution and median size are reported and discussed in terms of fundamental quantities and model predictions.
