Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Exact Results for the Distribution of Randomly Weighted Sums
Dependent random variables play a crucial role in various fields, from finance and statistics to engineering and environmental sciences. Often, interest lies in understanding the aggregate sum of a collection of dependent variables with random weights ...

The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

A note on moment generating functions
In this note, we show that if a sequence of moment generating functions Mn(t) converges pointwise to a moment generating function M(t) for all t in some open interval of R, not necessarily containing the origin, then the distribution functions Fn ...

On modeling pollution-generating technologies [PDF]
Distinguishing between intended ("good") production and unintended or residual ("bad") generation, we introduce the concept of by-production. In by-production technologies, pollution is an output that satises a "costly disposability" assumption and ...

On the Moment Generating Function of Pillai's $V^{(s)}$ Criterion
The moment generating function (mgf) of Pillai's $V^{(s)}$ criterion in the central case has been considered by Pillai [8], [9] and James [3]. In the present paper, the mgf's of $V^{(s)}$ are considered in the following non-central cases: (i) MANOVA and (ii) canonical correlation. The lower order moments of $V^{(s)}$ for (i) and (ii) in the non-central

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Moment Generating Function and Asset Pricing: A note
The price of a financial asset can be conceived as the risk-neutral expectation of its random payoff. When the payoff has an exponential form as well as known distribution, the moment generating function and its analytical counterpart (the Laplace ...

New lifetime Shanker Weibull distribution: Structure and Properties
This paper introduces a new model with two parameters titled “Shanker Weibull distribution". This distribution is obtained by merging the Shanker distribution with a scale of one parameter and the Weibull distribution with a shape parameter.
