Nonlinear seismic analysis of steel frame with semi-rigid joints

open access: yesGrađevinar, 2015
The nonlinear seismic analysis of steel frame without diagonals is presented in the paper. The real behaviour of semi-rigid joints is taken into account through prior numerical simulation of the selected type of joint.

Field observation and numerical analysis of a rotating pipe in flight

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2018
The present purpose is to reveal the mechanism of a flying pipe from an aerodynamic point of view. At first, we conduct field observations of a flying pipe using a pair of high-speed video cameras, together with three-dimensional motion analyses.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Numerical tests of steel beam-to-column semi-rigid connections

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2003
This paper presents an analysis of semi-rigid beam-to-column connections in which the beam is connected to column not at 90 degrees angle. Beam-to-column bolted end-plate connections that are subjected to pure bending were modelled by three-dimensional ...

Calculation Method of Rotational Constraint Stiffness for a New Tower-Pier Connected System

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The universal hinge support (UHS) is a new connection system for the tower and pier of a single-tower cable-stayed bridge (STCSB), which could conform the multi-direction rotation of the tower and release the bending moment at the bottom of the tower in ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Reappearance of change in time of rotation axis with simulation in baseball-type acceleration sensor

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2021
We develop an output simulator for a baseball-type acceleration sensor in which one three-axis sensor for low acceleration and three sensors for high acceleration are installed.

Gravitational lensing and rotation curve [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Based on the geodesic equation in a static spherically symmetric metric we discuss the rotation curve and gravitational lensing. The rotation curve determines one function in the metric without assuming Einstein's equations. Then lensing is considered in

Incorrect rotation curve of the Milky Way

open access: yes, 2015
International audienceIn the fundamental quest of the rotation curve of the Milky Way, the tangent-point method has long been the simplest way to infer velocities for the inner low-latitude regions of the Galactic disk from observations of the gas ...
