Numerical Study on the Mechanical Properties of Transmission Tower K-Joints under Cyclic Loading

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
During the vibration of a transmission tower, the joints will be subjected to a reciprocating load. To obtain the accurate state of the transmission tower under the load, the mechanical properties of the joints under the vibration load must be considered.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON MOMENT-ROTATIONAL ANGLE CURVES BY RACKING TESTS OF THE JOINT OF WOODEN RIGID FRAME

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering (Transactions of AIJ), 2010
A new type of moment resisting timber joint has been developed. The joint is made up of steel plates, bolts and cotters. The plates and the bolts are embedded with timber element of frame structure. By combining those elements with steel cotters, moment resisting joints can be constructed easily.

Whole‐Body Pattern of Muscle Degeneration and Progression in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize whole‐body intramuscular fat distribution pattern in patients with sarcoglycanopathies and explore correlations with disease severity, duration and age at onset. Methods Retrospective, cross‐sectional, multicentric study enrolling patients with variants in one of the four sarcoglycan genes who underwent whole‐body ...

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

An Explainable Machine Learning-Based Prediction of Backbone Curves for Reduced Beam Section Connections Under Cyclic Loading

open access: yesBuildings
Reduced Beam Sections (RBS) are used in steel design to promote ductile behavior by shifting inelastic deformation away from critical joints, enhancing seismic performance through controlled energy dissipation.

The dark matter content of the blue compact dwarf NGC 2915

open access: yes, 2010
NGC 2915 is a nearby blue compact dwarf with the HI properties of a late-type spiral. Its large, rotating HI disk (extending out to R ~ 22 B-band scale lengths) and apparent lack of stars in the outer HI disk make it a useful candidate for dark matter ...

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Influence of the semi‐rigid bolted steel joints on the frame behaviour

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2010
This research work describes the analysis of steel semi rigid joints that are subjected to bending and tension or compression. The main attention is focussed on the beam‐to‐beam and plate bolted joints. Usually influence of axial force is neglected.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...
