Automatic Modulation Classification Using Moments and Likelihood Maximization
IEEE Communications Letters, 2018Motivated by the fact that moments of the received signal are easy to compute and can provide a simple way to automatically classify the modulation of the transmitted signal, we propose a hybrid method for automatic modulation classification that lies in the intersection between likelihood-based and feature-based classifiers. Specifically, the proposed

Robust QAM modulation classification via moment matrices
11th IEEE International Symposium on Personal Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications. PIMRC 2000. Proceedings (Cat. No.00TH8525), 2000We discuss a method for classification of digitally modulated signals based on performing subspace decomposition on a positive definite matrix of higher order moments of the received signals. Specifically, we specialize a general approach originally introduced for detection and classification of noise contaminated patterns to the case of digitally ...

Moment Maps and Jacobian Modules
Annals of Global Analysis and Geometry, 2000Let \((M,\omega)\) be a symplectic manifold with an action of a compact Lie group \(G\) which preserves the symplectic form. When the action is Hamiltonian there is a moment map \(\phi: M\to{\mathfrak g}^*\) where \({\mathfrak g}^*\) is the dual of the Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\) of \(G\). In [J. Differ. Modulation Classification based on Statistical Moments
MILCOM 1986 - IEEE Military Communications Conference: Communications-Computers: Teamed for the 90's, 1986The ability to identify the modulation of an arbitrary signal is desirable for a number of reasons, including signal confirmation, interference identification, and the selection of proper demodulators. A modulation classification algorithm using statistical pattern recognition techniques has been developed and tested on numerically simulated signals ...

The identification of wavelet modulation based on trigonometric moments
IET Conference on Wireless, Mobile and Sensor Networks 2007 (CCWMSN07), 2007Wavelet modulation (WM) is a new type of modulation. This paper mainly studies the identification of wavelet modulated signals. Since the signal's instantaneous frequency evaluated with radian is circular, we extract a feature which is based on high order trigonometric moment of signals' instantaneous frequency to identify wavelet modulation.

Modulation classification based on amplitude and cosine moments
2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing, 2009A new modulation classification method for M-ary QAM (MQAM) is proposed in this paper. Our method employs two dimensional decision variable composed of amplitude and cosine moments. Numerical results of the classification error probability show that the method presents superior classification performance for MQAM compared with amplitude moments or ...

Block length estimation for block orthogonal modulations by cyclic moments
2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems, 2012Modulation identification is becoming more and more important for an efficient use of radio spectrum in cognitive radio. In this paper, a block length estimation methods are presented for the modulation identification of block orthogonal modulations.
