Abstract The kidneys regulate fluid balance but are susceptible to adverse effects of inadequate hydration. Epidemiological studies have linked low water intake to renal dysfunction and chronic kidney disease. Previously we showed that restricting water intake to a single 2‐h period daily for 4 weeks promotes hypertension as well as renal inflammation,

Effect of calcium propionate and monensin on in vitro digestibility and gas production
An evaluation of the effects of monensin and calcium propionate on the in vitro kinetics of gas production, digestibility, carbon dioxide, and minor gas production on different days was performed using the ruminal fluid from eight Suffolk lamb donors ...

Analysis of monensin sensitivity in Toxoplasma gondii reveals autophagy as a mechanism for drug induced death. [PDF]
Understanding the mechanisms by which anti-parasitic drugs alter the physiology and ultimately kill is an important area of investigation. Development of novel parasitic drugs, as well as the continued utilization of existing drugs in the face of ...

ABSTRACT Background Patients with end‐stage liver disease (ESLD) often present with sarcopenia, defined as loss of skeletal muscle mass and quality, which is associated with reduced quality of life and increased mortality. However, the molecular mechanisms driving sarcopenia in ESLD are not fully understood and there are currently no therapeutic ...

Induction of IL‐9‐producing CD8+ T cells by ascochlorin derivatives
A newly synthesised ascochlorin derivative, N184, induces small amounts of IL‐9‐producing CD8+ T cells. N184 improved the survival of CD8+ T cells and enhanced their antitumour activity, partially in an IL‐9‐dependent manner. The antitumour effect was completely dependent on IFNγ secretion rather than the cytotoxic activity of CD8+ T cells.
