Location and chemical composition of microbially induced phosphorus precipitates in anaerobic and aerobic granular sludge [PDF]
This work focuses on combined scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX) applied to granular sludge used for biological treatment of high-strength wastewater effluents. Mineral precipitation is shown to occur in the core

Effect of Processing on Structural and Morphological Changes of Hydroxyapatite‐Based Materials
The low‐cost wet precipitation method produces fine needle‐like, hexagonal hydroxyapatite (∼10, 20 nm, crystallite, and 20 m2/g). Calcination increases crystallite size (50 nm), reduces surface area, alters morphology to rounded agglomerates, and changes symmetry to triclinic.

The study explores 3D‐printed scaffolds combining PEOT/PBT polymer with βTCP particles coated in Zn/Cu or Zn/Co ions at two concentrations (low [L] and high [H]). These scaffolds enhance osteogenic differentiation, collagen production, and angiogenic properties, particularly at low Zn/Co concentrations, demonstrating the potential for bone regeneration

Surface properties of biomimetic nanocrystalline apatites; applications in biomaterials [PDF]
Several types of nanocrystalline apatites have been described, obtained in various ways. Among these, biomimetic nanocrystalline apatites (BNA), whose characteristics are close to those of biological apatites, have been shown to exhibit specific ...
