Photoperiodic responsiveness in Mongolian gerbils

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Animal Psychology, 1998
Photoperiodic response to a short photoperiod (SP, LD 8 : 16) was reported in Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus). The change of testicular and epididymal weight as well as body weight was measured as a function of SP exposure of LD 8 : 16. The present findings demonstrated that Mongolian gerbils could discriminate between a long photoperiod (LP,

Cryopreservation of Mongolian Gerbil Spermatozoa.

open access: yesJournal of Mammalian Ova Research, 2000
Recently the importance of cryopreservation to preserve the genes of extremely rare or endangered species has been increasing. Many spermatozoa can be obtained from one male. And strains can be established by in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer after thawing. Cryopreservation of spermatozoa is conducted in domestic animals and laboratory animals,

Histological analysis of scent glands in banded mongooses, with implications for chemical communication

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 328, Issue 1, Page 76-90, January 2026.
We investigated the distribution and structure of scent glands in the banded mongoose (Mungos mungo), a cooperatively breeding, group‐living mammal. Histological analyses revealed relatively large anal glands and a previously undescribed cheek gland, but no specialised scent glands in the chin or abdomen.

Genetic Diversity and Relatedness of Group-Living Small Mammals on the Mongolian Plateau

open access: yesDiversity, 2022
Genetic diversity plays an important role in the evolution and adaptation of organisms. Losses of genetic diversity make organisms more vulnerable to climate changes and diseases, reducing the viability of small populations.

Performance of Elecsys Anti‐HEV IgG and IgM Assays for the Detection of Acute, Recent or Past Hepatitis E Virus Infection

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background & Aims Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is the leading cause of acute viral hepatitis. We evaluated the performance of the new automated Elecsys Anti‐HEV IgG and Elecsys Anti‐HEV IgM assays (Roche Diagnostics) in detecting acute, recent and past HEV infection. Methods Performance of the Elecsys assays relative to three commercially available

Cutting‐Edge Advancements in Physical Stimulation for Spiral Ganglion Neuron Protection and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 5, Issue 12, December 2025.
Physical stimulation strategies have emerged as a therapeutic avenue for the regeneration of spiral ganglion neurons. This review explores diverse physical stimulation modalities—including topographical modulation, electrical stimulation, and photostimulation—each operating through distinct mechanisms to regulate SGN biological behavior. By elucidating

Drug discovery and preclinical testing of drug candidates for developmental and epileptic encephalopathies

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 66, Issue 12, Page 4597-4623, December 2025.
Abstract Drug development for developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs) follows different strategies on one hand including disease‐targeting precision medicine approaches considering the genetic variants and pathomechanisms in DEEs and on the other hand including therapeutic approaches with novel targets or second‐generation drug candidates ...
