Ag12[Ge9(Hyp)2]6 An Intermetalloid Cluster with Bis‐Silylated Ge9 Units

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 4, 22 January 2026.
The reaction of K2Ge9(Hyp)2 (Hyp = Si(SiMe3)3) with phosphine stabilized silver halides gives the new intermetalloid cluster Ag12[Ge9(Hyp)2]6 exhibiting a novel Ag12 core surrounded by six [Ge9(Hyp)2] units acting as ligands. Within the Ag12 core two different kinds of silver atoms are present underlining the intermetalloid character of the cluster ...

A capped octahedral MHC6 compound of a platinum group metal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A MHC6 complex of a platinum group metal with a capped octahedral arrangement of donor atoms around the metal center has been characterized. This osmium compound OsH{κ2-C,C-(PhBIm-C6H4)}3, which reacts with HBF4 to afford the 14 e− species [Os{κ2-C,C ...

Crystal structures of two mononuclear complexes of terbium(III) nitrate with the tripodal alcohol 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Two new mononuclear cationic complexes in which the TbIII ion is bis-chelated by the tripodal alcohol 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane (H3LEt, C6H14O3) were prepared from Tb(NO3)3·5H2O and had their crystal and molecular structures solved by single ...

Synthesis and structure of two phases with both extended and point defects: Mn1 - xBi2 + yS4 and Mn1 - xBi2 + ySe4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
We report the structures of Mn1 - xBi2 + yS4 (0 [les] x [les] 0.3; Y = 0.667x) and Mn1 - xBi2 + ySe4 (0.1 [les] x [les] 0.14; Y = 0.667x). Both compounds are defect structures of the HgBi2S4 structure type.

Tl2[Te2O6]: The First Mixed‐Valent Oxidotellurate(IV/VI) of Thallium(I)

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 651, Issue 18, December 10, 2025.
The layered crystal structure of the mixed‐valent thallium(I) oxidotellurate(IV/VI), Tl2[Te2O6]. Single crystals of Tl2[Te2O6] were grown hydrothermally at 220 °C starting from telluric acid and elemental thallium, whereas single‐phase microcrystalline material was obtained from solid‐state reactions between Tl2CO3, Tl2O3, and TeO2 in evacuated silica ...

Nitridogermanates(IV): The Germanide Oxide Sr15Ge[GeN4]3O, the Carbodiimide Ba5[GeN4][CN2], and the Oxidonitridogermanate Sr6[Ge2N6O]

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 651, Issue 11, July 22, 2025.
During synthesis of nitridogermanates, oxygen and carbon impurities lead to a variety of novel compounds—comprising carbodiimides and oxides—significantly expanding the chemistry of this compound class. Various novel compounds have been encountered by serendipity, due to small oxygen or carbon impurities, during the explorative studies to explore the ...

Bonding Heterogeneity and Nanoprecipitation on Substituting the Anionic Framework in Mg3Sb2 for p‐Type Zintl Thermoelectrics

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2025.
Alloying‐induced bonding heterogeneity in p‐type Mg3(Sb1−2xBixSnx)2 leads to local atomic ordering, site preferences, and heterogeneous interfaces, influencing structural transitions and thermoelectric properties. A partial trigonal‐to‐monoclinic phase transition occurs, with a cubic Mg2Sn nanophase emerging at higher alloying content.
