Synthesis and structure of two phases with both extended and point defects: Mn1 - xBi2 + yS4 and Mn1 - xBi2 + ySe4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
We report the structures of Mn1 - xBi2 + yS4 (0 [les] x [les] 0.3; Y = 0.667x) and Mn1 - xBi2 + ySe4 (0.1 [les] x [les] 0.14; Y = 0.667x). Both compounds are defect structures of the HgBi2S4 structure type.

Bonding Heterogeneity and Nanoprecipitation on Substituting the Anionic Framework in Mg3Sb2 for p‐Type Zintl Thermoelectrics

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2025.
Alloying‐induced bonding heterogeneity in p‐type Mg3(Sb1−2xBixSnx)2 leads to local atomic ordering, site preferences, and heterogeneous interfaces, influencing structural transitions and thermoelectric properties. A partial trigonal‐to‐monoclinic phase transition occurs, with a cubic Mg2Sn nanophase emerging at higher alloying content.

Elevating the Performance of Heterometallic 3d/4f SMMs: The Role of Diamagnetic CoIII and ZnII Ions in Magnetization Dynamics

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 25, Issue 20, October 16, 2024.
This concept highlights the innovative synthesis and magnetic enhancement of heterometallic 3d/4f complexes, showcasing the influence of diamagnetic CoIII and ZnII ions on their magnetization dynamics. Through experimental and computational studies, it is demonstrated how these diamagnetic ions contribute to the enhancement of magnetic anisotropy and ...

Multicationic Tetrahedra Networks: Alkaline‐Earth‐Centered Polyhedra and Non‐Condensed AlN6‐Octahedra in the Imidonitridophosphates AE2AlP8N15(NH) (AE=Ca, Sr, Ba)

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 29, May 23, 2024.
Isostructural imidonitridophosphates AE2AlP8N15(NH) (AE=Ca, Sr, Ba) were synthesized by high‐pressure/high‐temperature reactions. Atomic‐resolution EDX mapping and solid‐state NMR are consistent with the structure determination by X‐ray diffraction. A PN4‐tetrahedra network features channels occupied by aluminum and alkaline‐earth ions.
