Evaluación del comportamiento productivo de búfalos de río en sistema arborizado y en monocultivo de gramíneas Evaluation of the productive performance of river buffaloes in system with trees and grass monocrop

open access: yesPastos y Forrajes, 2008
Se investigó el efecto de la arborización en la crianza de los búfalos de río en dos unidades o fincas con 30 búfalas lecheras cada una y sus crías, y se comparó la tecnología del silvopastoreo racional con Leucaena leucocephala y un monocultivo de ...

Forest cover drives bird occupancy across guilds and habitats in a Colombian coffee‐farming landscape

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Increasing landscape forest cover would improve occupancy for nearly all bird guilds using coffee and forest habitats in the Eastern Colombian Andes. Conserving forest and enhancing shade coffee are complementary–not interchangeable–strategies: landscape forest cover shapes the conditions under which farm‐scale habitat management can sustain diverse ...

Mammal Responses to Habitat Degradation Induced by Cashew Expansion in West Africa

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 169-182, April 2026.
Relationships between (a) estimated mammal species richness, (b) overall mammal species photographic rate, (c) carnivore photographic rate, (d) insectivore photographic rate, (e) omnivore photographic rate and (f) herbivore photographic rate and the local habitat characteristics as denoted by the scores of the first component of the Principal Component

Avaliação nutricional de mudas de Acacia mangium, Sesbania virgata e Eucalyptus camaldulensis inoculadas com fungos micorrízicos, em casade- vegetação e em cava de extração de argila = Nutritional evaluation of Acacia mangium, Sesbania virgata and Eucalyptus camaldulensis, inoculated with mycorrhizal fungi, grown under greenhouse conditions and in an area of clay extraction

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Agronomy, 2009

Tree Diversity Increases Carbon Stocks and Fluxes Above—But Not Belowground in a Tropical Forest Experiment

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 2, February 2025.
We examined the potential of mixed‐species planted forests compared to monospecific forests to act as a nature‐based solution to climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration. By analysing multiple carbon stocks and fluxes over 16 years in the world's oldest tropical tree diversity experiment, we found that planted forests with five tree ...

Suppression of reed canarygrass by assisted succession: A sixteen‐year restoration experiment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 8, Page 1805-1816, August 2024.
Invasive species management and the restoration of target plant communities can be aided by assisting successional trajectories that have stalled. We document a restoration strategy for forests invaded by shade‐intolerant invaders that is both effective and economical, as only a simple site preparation and single planting effort is required ...

Comparing carbon offsets and livelihood benefits in a long‐term reforestation project: Agroforestry versus native timber versus enrichment planting

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 5, Issue 3, July–September 2024.
Looking at different reforestation methods over 14 years in an Emberá Indigenous community in Panama we found that plots with native timber mixtures and monocultures stored three times more carbon than those with agroforestry or natural regrowth. Natural regrowth was less valued by participants due to the abundance of pioneer species, but it helped ...
