Flowering Dynamics in Monoecious and Dioecious Hemp Genotypes

Journal of Industrial Hemp, 2008
ABSTRACT Flowering is a crucial phase in hemp cultivation. It influences both stem and seed yield. A uniform and short flowering duration in hemp is desirable, because it favors uniform crop development. Moreover, flowering is often taken as a reference point for harvesting, and very long durations of flowering might mislead the operator in judging the

A monoecious and diploid Moran model of random mating

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2016
An exact Markov chain is developed for a Moran model of random mating for monoecious diploid individuals with a given probability of self-fertilization. The model captures the dynamics of genetic variation at a biallelic locus. We compare the model with the corresponding diploid Wright-Fisher (WF) model.

Behavior of pairs of loci in finite monoecious populations

Theoretical Population Biology, 1974
Abstract Transition equations are established for descent measures for pairs of loci in finite randomly mating monoecious populations. The two special cases of equal chance gamete formation and two gametes per parent are considered in detail.

Size and sex allocation in monoecious woody plants

Oecologia, 1993
The female size advantage hypothesis predicts that the allocation ratio of female: male reproductive effort should increase with plant size (total reproductive effort). A male height advantage hypothesis has also been proposed, based on the supposed greater advantage of height to male reproductive success in wind-pollinated plants.

A MONOECIOUS ISOLATE OF RHODOCHORTON PURPUREUM1

Journal of Phycology, 1970
SUMMARYAlthough most sexually reproducing strains of Rhodochorton purpureum are dioecious, an isolate from Chile is monoecious. The tetrasporophyte of the monoecious strain differentiates directly from the fertilized carpogonium as in the dioecious strains but it differs slightly in its development.

Synchronous monoecy in Ecdeiocoleaceae (Poales), in Western Australia

Australian Journal of Botany, 2014
The Western Australian plant family Ecdeiocoleaceae includes only three species but DNA data show them as the closest living sister-group of the Poaceae. Ecdeiocoleaceae are wind-pollinated and monoecious; spikes produce separate zones of pistillate and staminate flowers, in acropetal succession.

Coalescent theory for a completely random mating monoecious population

Mathematical Biosciences, 2007
Consider a large random mating monoecious diploid population that has N individuals in each generation. Let us assume that at time 0 a random sample of n0 as N-->infinity.

On the evolution of anisogamy from isogamous monoecy and on the origin of sex

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1981
Abstract A new hypothesis is established for the evolution of anisogamy in isogamous monoecious haploid unicells. Contrary to present concepts, it is assumed that in such isogamous ancestors the genetically identical gametes are bipolarly different as (+) and (−).

Cart No.1, Monoecious Fruits, the Harvest of 1519

TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, 2019
Abstract The following works are an exploration of the histories of colonization that the Mestizo experience in North America as well as how the settler colonial phenomenon continues to exist in the contemporary United States. The projects scrutinize the impact of racism, transphobia, classism, capitalism, and heteropatriarchy, as they ...

Seed production in monoecious and dioecious populations of Hydrilla

Aquatic Botany, 1993
Abstract The potential for sexual reproduction was evaluated in the various races of an international Hydrilla germplasm collection. Crosses between dioecious and monoecious races of Hydrilla verticullata (L.f.) Royle resulted in seed production in 40 of the 56 crosses (71%).
