Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

Peripheral mononuclear blood cell apheresis in a preclinical ovine model

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2018
Background Recent research has demonstrated that circulating peripheral blood mononuclear fractions (PBMC) containing haematopoietic stem (HSC)/progenitor cells have the potential to play a crucial role in regenerative medicine strategies.

Evaluation of the primitive fraction by functional in vitro assays at the RNA and DNA level represents a novel tool for complementing molecular monitoring in chronic myeloid leukemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Quantification of BCR-ABL1 mRNA levels in peripheral blood of chronic myeloidleukemia patients is a strong indicator of response to tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (TKI)treatment.

Characteristics of Human Mononuclear Cell Fractions Separated on the Basis of Theophylline Sensitivity of E Rosette Forming Ability

open access: yesImmunobiology, 1983
T lymphocytes may be separated into theophylline-sensitive (Tsens) and theophylline-resistant (Tres) fractions based on their loss or retention of ERFC-forming ability after incubation with 3 mM theophylline. It has been claimed that Tsens cells have a predominant suppressor function, whilst Tres cells have mainly helper activity.

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Plasma levels of immunosuppressive mediators during cardiopulmonary bypass

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 1996
The aim of this study was to evaluate plasma levels of two mediators with immunosuppressive properties, complement fraction C3a (C3a) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), during extracorporeal circulation.

INFLUENCE OF PREGNA-D’-PENTARANES ON CELL CULTURES HELA AND MONONUCLEAR CELL FRACTION OF PERIPHERAL BLOOD

open access: yesRussian Journal of Oncology, 2013
The aim of the study. The study of the binding pregna-D’-pentaran with progesterone receptors in the mononuclear cell fraction of peripheral blood (MNFK) and cell culture HeLa, assessment of the compounds impact on cells of these cultures and the level of TNF-alpha in MNFK. Material and methods.

A Nano‐Interception Strategy for Chronic Heart Failure: Prussian Blue Nanoparticles Disrupt Fibroblast‐Immune Communication via CCL2 Sequestration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A nano‐interception strategy disrupts pathogenic fibroblast–macrophage crosstalk in chronic heart failure. Scalable Prussian blue nanoparticles selectively sequester CCL2 via ultrahigh‐affinity binding, preventing CCR2+ macrophage recruitment and breaking a key fibro‐inflammatory circuit. This approach demonstrates robust efficacy in murine and porcine

Inhaled Interleukin-10 before and after induction of experimental endotoxemia in the rat : effects on the inflammatory response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
To determine the effects of inhaled IL-10 at different doses and different time points on the pulmonary and systemic inflammatory response during endotoxemia, 48 ventilated, anaesthetized rats (mean body weight ± standard deviation, 500 ± 33g) were ...

Characterising the transcriptomic response of bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells to a mycobacterial cell wall fraction

open access: yesMolecular Immunology
Innate immune stimulants, including mycobacterium cell wall fractions (MCWF), offer an alternative control option to prevent and treat disease in livestock, by appropriately augmenting the innate immune response. However, the functional response to mycobacterium cell wall fractions in cattle is not well defined.
