Abstract Extensive offshore renewable energy installations have raised concerns about their environmental impacts. These concerns highlight the need for high fidelity modeling of conditions within wind‐farm regions, where wave–structure interactions through reflection, diffraction, and dissipation reshape local and regional wave dynamics, thereby ...

ABSTRACT Reliability, safety, and the lifetime of wind energy systems are mainly driven by the quality of each single component. Especially, large structures made of cast material or welded structures, such as the nacelle, the machine carrier, or the tower, are subjected to cyclic loading.

Large Diameter Monopile Pile-Soil Interaction in Sandy Seabed
[Introduction] This paper conducts study based on the design of monopile foundations for offshore wind turbines in sandy seabed, to analyze the influence of drainage conditions on soil-foundation interaction, and compare the initial stiffness of soil ...

Rate effects for monopile foundations
Monopile pile foundations are the most commonly used support system for offshore wind turbines in Europe. These foundations are subject to lateral loading, which is cyclic in nature, with the loading rate and load eccentricity varying with time. Under extreme conditions, such as the emergency stop of the turbine, yawing or ship impact, transient ...

Active vibration control of a monopile offshore structure [PDF]
AbstractIn the Danish part of the North Sea monopile platforms with a cylindrical shaft have been used at the exploitation of marginal fields. In the paper a new principle for active vibration control of such structures is suggested. The principle is based on a control of the boundary layer flow around the cylinder of the platform, so the drag force in

ABSTRACT The Middle Atlantic Bight (MAB) of the eastern US differs from other offshore wind (OSW) development sites due to a unique seasonal oceanographic stratification regime. Fisheries there target migratory finfish and sedentary shellfish, the productivity and distribution of which are driven by oceanography with dynamic mesoscale features that can

Field Performance of Scour Protection around Offshore Monopiles [PDF]
Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee was installed in 2006 and is the first Dutch offshore windpark. To guarantee a fixed seabed level, dynamic scour protections were installed at all 36 monopiles. Since installation 251 multibeam surveys were executed to investigate the as-built stages and yearly performance of the dynamic scour protection.

ABSTRACT This study analyzes cost overruns in 80 wind power projects, focusing on the impact of configuration types and their interaction effects with other project characteristics. Using multiple regression analyses, including interaction terms and segmented regression, we investigate four key aspects of cost overruns in wind power projects. First, we
