The Association of Steroids and Pediatric Post‐Tonsillectomy Recovery: A Retrospective Review

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Pain, dehydration, and bleeding remain significant concerns for pediatric tonsillectomy patients. The literature is sparse on potential effects of postoperative, outpatient steroid prescribing practices among the post‐tonsillectomy pediatric population.

The Impact of Surgical Technique on Post‐Tonsillectomy Hemorrhage—A Registry‐Based Cohort Study

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 5, October 2026.
In this national, registry‐based cohort study, we solidify the knowledge that warm surgical technique significantly increases the risk of post‐tonsillectomy hemorrhage. Guidelines should consider recommending cold techniques for tonsillectomies. ABSTRACT Objective The objective was to estimate the impact of surgical technique on the risk of post ...

Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping of Kidney Stones: An Ex Vivo MRI Phantom Study

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1846-1859, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To visualize and characterize the five most common kidney stone types based on their magnetic susceptibilities in MRI using QSM. Methods Three water‐based agar phantoms were constructed, containing a total of 53 ex vivo kidney stones of varying types and sizes.

Laterally Oscillating Trajectory for Undersampling Slices: LOTUS

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1682-1695, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose While spiral sampling offers SNR advantages for diffusion MRI, its acceleration with simultaneous multislice remains relatively unexplored. This study introduces Laterally Oscillating Trajectory for Undersampling Slices (LOTUS), which is a 3D spiral‐like k‐space trajectory that aims to minimize g‐factor via controlled incoherent ...

Free‐Breathing Fat Quantification Using a Phase Error‐Corrected Cartesian Acquisition With Spiral Profile Ordering

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1709-1725, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a phase‐corrected time‐interleaved multi‐echo gradient echo Cartesian acquisition with spiral profile ordering (TIMGRECASPR) for abdominal large‐FOV proton density fat fraction (PDFF) mapping at 3 T, demonstrating its sampling flexibility and inherent self‐gating capabilities at high isotropic resolutions.

Exploring the Value of Quantitative Muscle Ultrasound in Neuromuscular Junction Disorders: A Pilot Study

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1281-1287, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Quantitative muscle ultrasound (QMUS) is a validated technique for assessing muscle pathology, yet its role in disorders primarily affecting the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) remains unclear. This pilot study aimed to explore whether QMUS is associated with structural muscle changes in patients with acquired or genetic NMJ ...

Simultaneous 3‐D Adiabatic T1ρ, T2*, and Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping for Characterization of Myocardial Infarction in Ex Vivo Mouse

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study combines segmented T1ρ preparation into a 3‐D gradient‐echo sequence for simultaneous quantitative susceptibility, T2*, and T1ρ mapping of infarcted mouse hearts ex vivo. The method enabled assessment of T1ρ and T2* relaxation time maps and magnetic susceptibility, with ischemic regions clearly identified by all contrasts and consistent with

Quantifying the Diamagnetic and Paramagnetic Components of Beta‐Amyloid Plaques Using Decomposed Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping in Mouse Models of Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 10, October 2026.
Ex vivo MRI was performed on AD mouse models using high‐resolution multi‐echo gradient‐echo imaging on a 9.4T scanner to generate quantitative susceptibility maps (QSM) and separate diamagnetic and paramagnetic components. Amyloid‐β$$ \beta $$ plaques were detected from the susceptibility maps.

Technical Feasibility of IVIM for Prostate Cancer Imaging Using High‐Amplitude Whole‐Body Gradient System With Spiral Readout and Velocity‐Compensated Diffusion Encoding

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 10, October 2026.
The combination of velocity‐compensated diffusion encoding, spiral readout and strong gradients enabled high‐quality prostate IVIM imaging, offering a promising framework for the development of reliable IVIM‐based biomarkers for prostate cancer detection, characterisation and monitoring.

Transumbilical laparoendoscopic single‐site surgery versus conventional multi‐port laparoscopy for myomectomy: A large single‐center retrospective study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 10, Page 2068-2080, October 2026.
This retrospective observational study compared clinical outcomes from patients who underwent transumbilical laparoendoscopic single‐site surgery (single‐site laparoscopy) or conventional multi‐port laparoscopy for myomectomy. Single‐site laparoscopy and multi‐port laparoscopy showed similar performance in terms of surgical safety.
