Modulation of Animal Gut Health by Milk Oligosaccharide

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the composition and structural characteristics of MOs across different mammalian species, and elucidates their roles and mechanisms in maintaining intestinal homeostasis by regulating gut microbiome and enhancing intestinal chemical, physical and immune barriers.

Integrated biorefinery for cellulosic ethanol and spherical nanolignin production from coconut waste

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Green coconut waste was subjected to different fractionation methods to obtain integrated lignin nanoparticles and cellulosic ethanol. Pretreatment with gradual addition of dilute sulfuric acid provided a higher structural hemicellulose precursor yield (68.2%).

EFFECT OF NITROGEN FERTILISATION ON THE MARKETABLE YIELD AND NUTRITIVE VALUE OF ONION

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2017
The nutritive compounds of the onion are influenced by genetic as well environmental factors. Due to its shallow poorly-developed root system, onion has a low potential of using nutrients from soil. Usually mineral fertilisation increasing the yield and

Gas-chromatography/mass-spectrometry analysis of human skin constituents as heptafluorobutyrate derivatives with special reference to long-chain bases

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
The composition of the constituents (monosaccharides, long-chain bases, and fatty acids) found in an ethanol extract of the human skin could be determined, without time-consuming steps of purification, after acid-catalyzed anhydrous methanolysis ...

Insights on Pseudomonas aeruginosa Carbohydrate Binding from Profiles of Cystic Fibrosis Isolates Using Multivalent Fluorescent Glycopolymers Bearing Pendant Monosaccharides

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Pseudomonas aeruginosa contributes to frequent, persistent, and, often, polymicrobial respiratory tract infections for individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF). Chronic CF infections lead to bronchiectasis and a shortened lifespan. P.

Eudragit®‐engineered pH‐responsive probiotic microspheres with enhanced gastrointestinal resistance and prolonged storage stability for inflammatory bowel disease therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of AMS@Eud core‐shell microspheres, combining calcium alginate and pH‐responsive Eudragit® L100, which exhibit exceptional gastrointestinal resistance and long‐term storage stability (only 5.28%–9.09% viability loss over 35 days at 4–25°C), and effectively alleviate inflammatory bowel disease via gut microbiota ...

Glycosylated dendrimer nanoamplifiers hijack DNA damage‐immune crosstalk for enhanced dual‐track therapy of orthotopic glioblastoma

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A glycosylated dendrimer nanoamplifier hijacks DNA damage‐immune crosstalk for enhanced radio‐immunotherapy of glioblastoma. The responsive release of demethylcantharidin simultaneously blocks repair‐mediated resistance by inhibiting DNA repair and overcomes adaptive immune resistance.
