[Role of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of monosymptomatic optic neuritis].
Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 198834 patients with monosymptomatic optic neuritis were examined ophthalmologically and by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In 18 patients subclinical lesions with a high MRI signal intensity were found. The distribution of these lesions was similar to that seen in multiple sclerosis.

Pattern electroretinograms and visual evoked potentials (VEP) were investigated in response to reversal checker-board patterns with different sizes of checks in 13 adolescents with monosymptomatic optic neuritis in acute period and in the course of convalescence 1-2 and 12-36 months after the disease onset.
