Orientation of \u3ci\u3eHylobius Pales\u3c/i\u3e and \u3ci\u3ePachylobius Picivorus\u3c/i\u3e (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) to Visual Cues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pitfall traps with above-ground silhouettes of various colors and diameters were used in field tests to evaluate the role of vision in host orientation by adult pales weevils, Hylobius pales, and pitch-eating weevils, Pachylobius picivorus.

Typical Monoterpenes as Insecticides and Repellents against Stored Grain Pests

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Five monoterpenes naturally occurring in essential oils were tested for their insecticidal and repellent activities against the bruchid beetle Callosobruchus maculatus and the maize weevil Sitophilus zeamais.

Influence of the Substitution Pattern of Terpene‐Based Seven‐Membered Lactones on Yttrium‐Mediated Ring‐Opening Polymerization: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Investigation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
(‐)‐Menthide and trans (+)‐carvomenthide, differing only in substitution pattern, were polymerized via ROP using a bis(phenolate) yttrium catalyst. Kinetic studies showed faster polymerization of (+)‐carvomenthide but greater control with (‐)‐menthide. Experimental and DFT analyses revealed mechanistic differences in chain propagation, highlighting how

Seasonal influence on the essential oil chemical composition of Hyptis crenata Pohl ex Benth.: a valuable plant from Marajó, Brazil

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry
Introduction: Essential oils (EOs) from the Hyptis genus have been reported as bactericides and fungicides. However, the properties of these oils can be affected by climatic factors, as well as the collection period, which promotes changes in the ...

Optimization of a new extraction technique for analysis of verbenone and cis-verbenol in pine seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Results from a systematic study of the factors affecting extraction of cis-verbenol and verbenone from pine seeds are presented. Five extraction conditions were investigated: extraction solvent, method of extraction, extraction temperature, volume of ...

Titanium cis‐DACH Salan Catalyst for the Efficient Epoxidation of Nonactivated Olefins with Hydrogen Peroxide‐Terminal‐Selective Epoxidation of Multiply Unsaturated Terpenes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Terminal‐selective epoxidation–catalytic, simple, and with H2O2 as oxidant. The titanium complex of a new type of salan ligand, accessible in one step from cis‐DACH and 3‐(pentafluorophenyl)salicylic aldehyde, is an efficient catalyst for the epoxidation of nonconjugated olefins with H2O2.

Influence of Humidity, Temperature and Radicals on the Formation and Thermal Properties of Secondary Organic Aerosol (SOA) from Ozonolysis of {\beta}-pinene

open access: yes, 2013
The influence of water and radicals on SOAs produced by {\beta}-pinene ozonolysis was investigated at 298 and 288 K using a laminar flow reactor. A volatility tandem differential mobility analyzer (VTDMA) was used to measure the evaporation of the SOA ...

En Route Toward Sustainable Polycarbonates via Large Cyclic Carbonates

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
The use of safe carbonylating agents, allowed by a suitable (bio)catalytic systems, affords the sustainable and green synthesis of large‐ring cyclic carbonates by reaction of renewables such as bio‐based diols. These carbonates are prone to ring‐opening polymerization paving the way for the production of circular aliphatic polycarbonates.
