Monotone comparative statics in the Calvert–Wittman model
In this paper, we show that when policy-motivated parties can commit to a particular platform during a uni-dimensional electoral contest where valence issues do not arise there must be a positive association between the policies preferred by candidates and the policies adopted in expectation in the lowest and the highest equilibria of the electoral ...

Monotone Comparative Statics: A Geometric Approach [PDF]
The authors deal with finite-dimensional parameter-dependent optimization problems and consider so-called monotone comparative statics whose main question is to determine conditions under which the model predictions change monotonically if the parameter values vary. The proposed method generates a vector field defined on the parameter space.

Monotone Comparative Statics for Models of Politics [PDF]
We elucidate a powerful yet simple method for deriving comparative statics conclusions for a wide variety of models: Monotone Comparative Statics (Milgrom and Shannon 1994). Monotone comparative static methods allow researchers to extract robust, substantive empirical implications from formal models that can be tested using ordinal data and simple ...

A Comment on: “Monotone Comparative Statics” [PDF]
Milgrom and Shannon (1994) provide necessary and sufficient conditions on parameterized optimization problems for their solution sets to be globally monotone in the parameter. We establish that their conditions may be significantly relaxed when focusing on discrete, binary comparisons between solution sets.

Monotone Comparative Statics in General Equilibrium [PDF]
Under certain conditions on the excess demand function, it is shown that the set of equilibrium prices coincides with the set of maximizers of a potential function. Therefore, monotone comparative statics techniques can be employed to study how equilibrium prices change when there are shocks to the parameters of the model.

Monotone Comparative Statics for Equilibrium Problems
We introduce a notion of substitutability for correspondences and establish a monotone comparative static result, unifying results such as the inverse isotonicity of M-matrices, Berry, Gandhi and Haile's identification of demand systems, monotone comparative statics, and results on the structure of the core of matching games without transfers (Gale and

Heterogeneous Multidimensional Colonel Blotto: Framework and Equilibrium Structure
Classical Colonel Blotto models predict smooth and monotone allocation patterns under a homogeneous-resource benchmark. This paper studies how heterogeneous technologies and partially irreversible deployment reshape equilibrium structure through a ...

Monotone Comparative Statics with Separable Objective Functions [PDF]
The Milgrom-Shannon single crossing property is essential for monotone comparative statics of optimization problems and noncooperative games. This paper formulates conditions for an additively separable objective function to satisfy the single crossing property.

Observer‐Based Adaptive Event‐Triggered Tracking Control for Fuzzy TS Systems With Premise Mismatch
This paper presents an adaptive logistic event‐triggered observer‐based tracking controller for Takagi‐Sugeno fuzzy systems under constrained inputs and network delays. Leveraging a hybrid LMI and Secretary Bird Optimization approach, this strategy significantly minimizes communication overhead and computational burden while ensuring optimal reference ...
