Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

The monotonicity of the permanent function
The author shows that for each positive integer \(n\) there exists \(\alpha_ n\in(0,1)\) such that \(\text{per}[(1-\theta)J_ n+\theta S]\leq\text{per} S\) for all \(0\leq\theta\leq\alpha_ n\) and all \(n\times n\) doubly stochastic matrices \(S\).

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Non-monotone convergence schemes
We consider the second order BVP x″ = f (t, x, x′), x′(a) = A, x′(b) = B provided that there exist α and β (lower and upper functions) such that: β′ (α) < A < α′(a) and β′(b) < B < α′ (b). We consider monotone and non-monotone approximations of solutions
