From Mechanics to Electronics: Influence of ALD Interlayers on the Multiaxial Electro‐Mechanical Behavior of Metal–Oxide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

An Axiomatic Approach to Liveness for Differential Equations

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents an approach for deductive liveness verification for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with differential dynamic logic. Numerous subtleties complicate the generalization of well-known discrete liveness verification techniques ...

Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

Optimal Combinatorial Mechanism Design [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider an optimal mechanism design problem with several heterogeneous objects and interdependent values. We characterize ex post incentives using an appropriate monotonicity condition and reformulate the problem in such a way that the choice of an ...

Queueing process with excluded-volume effect

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce an extension of the M/M/1 queueing process with a spatial structure and excluded- volume effect. The rule of particle hopping is the same as for the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP).

Electric Field‐Dependent Conductivity as Probe for Charge Carrier Delocalization and Morphology in Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

Domain-Constrained Stacking Framework for Credit Default Prediction

open access: yesMathematics
Accurate and reliable credit risk classification is fundamental to the stability of financial systems and the efficient allocation of capital. However, with the rapid expansion of customer information in both volume and complexity, traditional rule-based

An Incentive Compatible Multi-Armed-Bandit Crowdsourcing Mechanism with Quality Assurance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Consider a requester who wishes to crowdsource a series of identical binary labeling tasks to a pool of workers so as to achieve an assured accuracy for each task, in a cost optimal way.

Pixelation‐Free, Monolithic Iontronic Pressure Sensors Enabling Large‐Area Simultaneous Pressure and Position Recognition via Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pixelation‐free, monolithic iontronic pressure sensor enables simultaneous pressure and position sensing over large areas. AC‐driven ion release generates spatially varying impedance pathways depending on the pressure. Machine learning algorithms effectively decouple overlapping pressure–position signals from the multichannel outputs, achieving high ...

Bargaining with intertemporal maximin payoffs [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a new class of dynamic bargaining problems, called "bargaining problems with intertemporal maximin payoffs," that may reflect sustainability problems having to encompass conflicting issues in the long-run.
