Approximating the distance to monotonicity of Boolean functions [PDF]
We design a nonadaptive algorithm that, given oracle access to a function f:{0,1} n→{0,1} which is α ‐far from monotone, makes poly (n,1/α) queries and returns an estimate that, with high probability, is an Õ(n) ‐approximation to the distance of f to ...

Filtration of Non-Monotonic Rules for Fuzzy Rule Base Compression [PDF]
This paper proposes a rule base compression method for fuzzy systems. The method is based on filtration of rules with identical linguistic values for the output that are known as non-monotonic rules. The filtration removes the redundant computations in the fuzzy inference with respect to the crisp values of the inputs to the fuzzy system.

Some Inequalities for Generalized Hyperbolic Functions
In this paper, we establish several inequalities involving certain generalizations of the hyperbolic functions. The established results serve as generalizations of some known results in the literature.

Monotonicity and sharp inequalities related to complete $(p,q)$-elliptic integrals of the first kind
With the aid of the monotone L’Hôpital rule, the authors verify monotonicity of some functions involving complete $(p,q)$-elliptic integrals of the first kind and the inverse of generalized hyperbolic tangent function, derive several sharp inequalities ...

Condorcet's Principle and the Preference Reversal Paradox [PDF]
We prove that every Condorcet-consistent voting rule can be manipulated by a voter who completely reverses their preference ranking, assuming that there are at least 4 alternatives. This corrects an error and improves a result of [Sanver, M. R.

Bargaining with nonanonymous disagreement: Monotonic rules
We analyze bargaining situations where the agents’ payoffs from disagreement depend on who among them breaks down the negotiations. We model such problems as a superset of the standard domain of Nash (1950). On our extended domain, we analyze the implications of two central properties which, on the Nash domain, are known to be incompatible: strong ...

An Approximate Inference Scheme Based on Distance-Induced Relations: Weld Forming Prediction
The construction of fuzzy conditional relations has been considered in Raha’s similarity-based inference schema, but inappropriate conclusions will be drawn in some cases due to the use of a single modification function.

New Cusa-Huygens type inequalities
Using the monotone form of the L'Hôspital rule, we discuss the (absolute) monotonicity of the functions $U\left(x\right)=\frac{1}{x^{4}}-% \frac{1}{x^{5}}\frac{3\sin x}{\cos x+2}$, $G(x)=\frac{1}{x^{2}}\left[\frac{% \ln\sin x-\ln x}{\ln\left(2+\cos x ...
