Mooring forces in horizontal interlaced moored floating pipe breakwater with three layers
Ocean Engineering, 2008Abstract The paper presents the results from model scale experiments on the study of forces in the moorings of horizontally interlaced, multi-layered, moored floating pipe breakwaters. The studies are conducted with breakwater models having three layers subjected to waves of steepness H i / L ( H i is the incident wave height and L the ...

Mooring Forces Induced by Passing Ships
Offshore Technology Conference, 1974Abstract The paper deals with some preliminary results of model tests carried out in the wave and current laboratory of the Netherlands Ship Model Basin to determine the external forces on a tanker, moored in shallow water, as a result of the passage of a large tanker shaped vessel.

On the Determination of Impact Forces, Mooring Forces and Motions of Supertankers at Marine Terminal
Offshore Technology Conference, 1975ABSTRACT This paper provides a method to predict:dynamic response of supertankers moored at sea-berth excited by water waves; andrelated mooring forces and impact forces induced to berthing structures. Significant results included:effects of dolphin-fender stiffness on hydrodynamic mass, effects of ...

Model Study of Mooring Forces of Docked Ship
Journal of the Waterways and Harbors Division, 1959Laboratory data presented on forces induced by water gravity waves in camels and mooring lines of Liberty Ship, moored alongside dock, for waves up to 5 ft in height and with periods up to 120 sec; it was not possible to obtain simple natural periods of surge, sway, etc for this particular mooring arrangement as one motion induced another.

A Load Cell for the Measurement of Slack Mooring Forces
Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series C, 2014A load cell for the measurement of mooring forces is designed using the load-strain principles and the same is verified for its efficiency by structural modeling. A model load cell is fabricated and calibrated through laboratory experiments using three axes loading as well as mooring chain catenary principles.

Physical Modelling of Motions and Forces on a Moored Ship at the Leixões Port
Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2019This paper describes the physical model, experimental setup and tests performed at the Portuguese Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC), to study the motions and forces of a moored ship at the Leixões port, for different sea states in irregular waves.

The Influence Of Directional Spreading Of Waves On Mooring Forces
Offshore Technology Conference, 1988ABSTRACT In this paper the basic expressions for the computation of mean and low frequency second order wave drift forces on floating structures in directionally spread seas as can be derived from potential theory are discussed.

Potential Wave Forces on a Moored Vertical Cylinder
1990In this chapter, analytical expressions are derived for the linear and quadratic potential wave forces acting on a moored, vertical, and surface-piercing cylinder. The forces are described by a second order Volterra series with the linear wave elevation as the input function.

Effect of Characteristics of Mooring Systems and External Forces to Motions of Moored Ships
1988This paper describes the effect of the characteristics of mooring systems and external forces to motions of moored ships in accordance with model experiment and computations. Here, the differences of ship motions in waves with and without the action from wind will be presented relating to two different load deflection characteristics of mooring systems.
