Peste des petits ruminants virus virulence is associated with an early inflammatory profile in the tonsils and cell cycle arrest in lymphoid tissue

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Using a systems immunology approach, this study comprehensively explored the immunopathogenesis of peste des petits ruminants (PPR) focussing on strain-dependent differences in virulence.

Evolution of Attenuation and Risk of Reversal in Peste des Petits Ruminants Vaccine Strain Nigeria 75/1

open access: yesViruses, 2019
Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus of the Morbillivirus genus. The current PPR eradication effort relies mainly on the implementation of massive vaccination campaigns.

The Antiviral Activity of Polyphenols

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 69, Issue 15, August 2025.
Polyphenols demonstrate remarkable antiviral properties by effectively disrupting multiple biochemical processes essential for viral replication. ABSTRACT Polyphenols are secondary metabolites produced by a large variety of plants. These compounds that comprise the class of phenolic acids, stilbenes, lignans, coumarins, flavonoids, and tannins have a ...

Basic biological characterization of feline morbillivirus

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2015
Feline morbillivirus (FmoPV) is an emerging virus that was recently discovered in domestic cats with chronic nephritis. Despite the potential role of FmoPV in chronic nephritis, little is known about its biological characteristics. In this study, we established a quantitative assay of FmoPV by using an indirect immunofluorescence technique.

Understanding measles virus: from isolation to immunological cellular mechanisms and immunisation 1954–2024

open access: yesExploration of Immunology
Measles virus (Morbillivirus abbreviated as MV, but more recently MeV) is the causal agent of measles disease, thought to have existed at least 4,000 years ago, affecting predominantly infants, but also immunocompromised individuals remaining a public ...

Morbillivirus infections in aquatic mammals.

open access: yesVeterinary research, 1993
Infections with morbilliviruses have caused heavy losses among different populations of aquatic mammals during the last 5 years. Two different morbilliviruses were isolated from disease outbreaks among seals in Europe and Siberia: phocid distemper virus-1 (PDV-1) and phocid distemper virus-2 (PDV-2) respectively.
