Eco-printing Leather Quality in Different Mordant Methods

open access: yes
The leather coloring technique using the eco-printing method is carried out by transferring the colors and motifs of plants on the leather media by direct contact. This process requires mordant to maximize the color. The use of mordant is done in 3 ways,

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...

Utilization of Tamarind Seeds Extract as a Natural and Sustainable Fabric Dye

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemical Research
This research focuses on the use of tannin components in tamarind seed coats as a mordant and natural dye in cotton fabrics. Tannins were extracted from the tamarind seed coat by boiling method and then the tannin content was determined.

Performance of cotton fabric treated with chitosan-based mordanty as affected by extraction time variations on tannin dyes produced from cocoa husk

open access: yesCoffee and Cocoa Research Journal
Natural dyes are substances obtained from animals or plants through extraction. The application of synthetic dyes can affect to environmental problems, therefore replace it with natural dyes is become an alternative. Cocoa pod husk still considered as a

Gallium Microalloying in Bi–Sn Solders: Interfacial Phase Formation, Wettability, and Long‐Term Shear Reliability Under Isothermal Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Gallium microalloying redirects interfacial reactions in low‐temperature Bi–Sn solders from Cu–Sn toward Cu–Ga intermetallic formation. The resulting Cu–Ga layer suppresses intermetallic growth during thermal aging, alters fracture pathways, and improves interfacial stability.

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.

Bio-mordants: a review

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Pollution Research
AbstractDue to the increasing pressure on environmentally friendly approaches and sustainable production processes, the textile dyeing industry has focused on natural colorants. Thus, the use of bio-mordants, which are biological materials, has become widespread as an alternative to metal salts, most of which are non-ecological, used in the application
