AbstractThe rates of diffusion of CH4, nC4H10, iso‐C4H10, and C4F10 into well‐characterized single crystals of sodium mordenite were studied at 25°C to 100°C., using a rapidly responding constant‐volume system. The diffusion coefficients are of the order of 10−8 to 10−9 sq. cm/sec.

Mordenite from Challis Valley, Idaho, was ion-exchanged with RbCl2 solution to ∼Rb8Al8Si40O96·nH2O. After dehydration at 340°C for 1 day, the crystal structure was determined at room temperature. Earlier attempts to dehydrate crystals at higher temperature led to disintegration, and even the present crystal fractured.

1984Abstract Mordenite is synthesized from different aluminosilicate gels in sealed pyrex tubes at 165°C. Its crystallization domain is established for these conditions and the coexisting phases are identified. The crystal chemistry of mordenites
Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 1975Mordenite is a zeolite whose approximate composition is (Na2, K2,Ca)4[Al8Si40O96] 28 H2O. Unit cell dimensions, determined by X-ray powder diffractometry for 35 natural samples, fell within the following ranges: a=18.052–18.168, b=20.404–20.527, c=7.501–7.537 A. The indexed powder pattern of a typical sample is reported.
