(Hemi)celluloses, abundant in lignocellulosic biomass, can be hydrolyzed and dehydrated into furanics like 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (5‐HMF) and levulinic acid. Despite its potential, 5‐HMF production remains limited by inefficiencies, notably humin formation.

A little zinc helps! The addition of small quantities of zinc to Cu‐SSZ‐13 leads to a significant enhancement in methanol production in the partial oxidation of methane to methanol. Cu‐SSZ‐13 is currently used industrially for the selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxides and has shown potential for the direct oxidation of methane to methanol ...

Synthesis of oligo- and polythiophenes in zeolite hosts [PDF]
Oligomers and polymers of thiophene derivatives were synthesized in the channels of zeolite Y and mordenite. Intrazeolite oxidation of monomers such as thiophene , 3- methylthiophene , and bithiophene by Fe(lll) or Cu(ll) ions results in formation of ...

Palagonitization of Volcanic Rocks in Polar Climates: The Case of Deception Island (Antarctica)
Abstract A detailed study of palagonitization in rocks from Deception Island—one of Antarctica's most active volcanoes—has been performed to advance our understanding of this alteration process. A detailed petrographic (optical and SEM), mineralogical (XRD), and mineral and glass spot geochemistry (EDS and EMP) characterization has been conducted on ...

X‐ray data reconstruction from incomplete data sampling
A reconstruction procedure for patterns with incomplete information is reported. It is based on a modified Papoulis–Gerchberg algorithm. The modifications were introduced to guide the reconstruction procedure. The reconstruction algorithm could prove useful in specific experimental geometry setups. For specific setups, a diffraction pattern can contain ...

Evidences of the Stabilization for Weeks of the Benzyl Cation in Zeolites
The benzyl cation is plausibly formed inside zeolites after rearrangement of individually isolated tropylium cations at room temperature. The benzyl cation–entrapped zeolite is stable for weeks without any storage precaution, and a solid–state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of this iconic carbocation could be recorded.
