ACUMULAÇÕES DE DETRITOS LENHOSOS E MUDANÇAS NA MORFOLOGIA DO CANAL FLUVIAL NO RIO GUABIROBA, GUARAPUAVA (PR)

open access: yesGeografia (Londrina), 2012
Árvores, galhos e folhas caídos dentro de um canal fluvial podem tornar-se um significativo agente componente do processo sedimentar, sendo de ocorrência natural e freqüente em sistemas fluviais que cortam áreas florestadas.

Terroir and rootstock effects on leaf shape in California Central Valley vineyards

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 4, Page 1110-1122, July 2025.
The innumerable effects of terroir—including climate, soil, microbial environment, biotic interactions, and cultivation practice—collectively alter plant performance and production. A more direct agricultural intervention is grafting, in which genetically distinct shoot and root genotypes are surgically combined to create a chimera that alters shoot ...

Temporal Dynamics of a Neotropical Plant‐Hummingbird Interaction Network

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 7, July 2025.
Using an unprecedented sampling effort we evaluated network structure and dynamics of plant‐hummingbird interactions over 1 year in the Brazilian hyperdiverse Campos Rupestres. Network structure presented remarkable temporal change, showing that tropical communities can also be strongly influenced by climate.

Grazing Modulates the Multiscale Spatial Structure of Dryland Vegetation

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 7, July 2025.
We studied how grazing pressure affects plant spatial patterns in drylands by using satellite images, field plant size and abundance data, and a mathematical model. We found that increasing grazing pressure has opposite effects on vegetation spatial structure to those of aridity, which might be explained by the fact that grazing decreases plant size ...

Pyraloid Moth Assemblages Exhibit Complex Morphological Patterns Across an Ecuadorian Mountainous Forest

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 3, May 2025.
In this study, we examined how morphological traits and species diversity of Pyraloidea moths vary with temperature and vegetation cover along an Andean rainforest gradient in Ecuador. Using 4161 individuals (212 species) and cross‐validating with a larger dataset of 10,337 individuals (749 morpho‐species), we found a near‐linear decrease in diversity ...

Understanding the long‐term dynamics of vegetation since 1953 in high‐mountain regions

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 2, Page 485-503, February 2025.
Alpine ecosystems show complex shifts in species ranges and community structures due to climate, land use, geomorphology, and species interactions. Over 70 years, vegetation patterns in an alpine to nival environment were shaped by trends including drying wetlands, upward species migration, eutrophication, and snowbed vulnerability, highlighting the ...

open access: yesCollectanea Botanica, 1987
Desde los ya lejanos, y meritísimos, trabajos de T. A. Sprague sobre el significado de los términos botánicos empleados por Plinio, Isidoro, Alberto y Ruellius, nadie había reemprendido tan necesaria tarea para la historia de la botánica.
