Modeling of evolving textures using granulometries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This chapter describes a statistical approach to classification of dynamic texture images, called parallel evolution functions (PEFs). Traditional classification methods predict texture class membership using comparisons with a finite set of predefined ...

Controls on spatial and temporal variations in sand delivery to salmonid spawning riffles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fine sediment infiltration into gravel interstices is known to be detrimental to incubating salmonid embryos. Infiltration into spawning riffles can show large spatial variations at the scale of a morphological unit and over time, with significant ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

City of slums: self-organisation across scales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The city is certainly a fine example of a complex system, where the parts can only be understood through the whole, and the whole is more than the simple sum of the parts. In the present paper we explore the idea that some of these parts are themselves

Luminosity- and morphology-dependent clustering of galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
How does the clustering of galaxies depend on their inner properties like morphological type and luminosity? We address this question in the mathematical framework of marked point processes and clarify the notion of luminosity and morphological ...

Multivariate Analysis of Spatial Patterns of Morphological Traits in West African Dwarf Goats in Three Agro-ecological Zones of Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Animal Research, 2010
Abstract Yakubu, A., Salako, A.E. and Imumorin, I.G. 2010. Multivariate analysis of spatial patterns of morphological traits in West African dwarf goats in three agro-ecological zones of Nigeria. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 38: 257–260. A multivariate analysis of phenotypic trait distribution across agro-ecological zones (tropical rainforest, guinea savanna ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Identifying river changes by river pattern events: a case study of the Lower Yellow River, China

open access: yesGeocarto International, 2023
Accurate and timely detection of river change attaches importance to regional ecological security. Since river change is a complex and dynamic process, there are difficulties to describe it properly.

Assessing texture pattern in slum across scales: an unsupervised approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
According to the Global Report on Human Settlements (United Nations, 2003), almost 1 billion people (32% of the world ’s population) live in squatter settlements or slums.

A visual M170 effect of morphological complexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Recent masked priming studies on visual word recognition have suggested that morphological decomposition is performed prelexically, purely on the basis of the orthographic properties of the word form. Given this, one might expect morphological complexity
