Social capital and well-being of the elderly ‘left-behind’ by their migrant children in India
Background The study aims to examine the association between individual forms of social capital and the well-being of the elderly ‘left-behind’ parents and to determine if there is a gender difference within the possible relationship.

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Clinical significance of stratifying prostate cancer patients through specific circulating genes
We tested a specific panel of genes representative of luminal, neuroendocrine and stem‐like cells in the blood of prostate cancer patients, showing predictive value from diagnosis to late stages of disease. This approach allows monitoring of treatment responses and outcomes at specific time points in trajectories.

Deepening Lee-Carter for longevity projections with uncertainty estimation [PDF]
Undoubtedly, several countries worldwide endure to experience a continuous increase in life expectancy, extending the challenges of life actuaries and demographers in forecasting mortality. Although several stochastic mortality models have been proposed in past literature, the mortality forecasting research remains a crucial task.

Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Stochastic mortality models: An infinite dimensional approach [PDF]
Demographic projections of future mortality rates involve a high level of uncertainty and require stochastic mortality models. The current paper investigates forward mortality models driven by a (possibly infinite dimensional) Wiener process and a compensated Poisson random measure.

Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Mortality decrease and mathematical limit of longevity [PDF]
We wish to verify that the mortality deceleration (or decrease) is a consequence of the bending of the shape parameter at old ages. This investigation is based upon the Weon model (the Weibull model with an age-dependent shape parameter) for human survival and mortality curves.
