Simulation of Electrical Parameters for Ru/Ta2O5/SiO2/Si(p) High-k MOS Structure

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2008
The contribution presents the results of simulation of direct tunnelling of free charge carriers through a thin gateinsulator in MOS structures consisting of a Ta2O5/SiO2 bilayer taking into account also indirect tunnelling of free chargecarriers through

DFT Simulations Investigating the Trapping of Sulfides by 1T-LixMoS2 and 1T-LixMoS2/Graphene Hybrid Cathodes in Li-S Batteries

open access: yesBatteries
The aim of this study is to investigate new materials that can be employed as cathode hosts in Li-S batteries, which would be able to overcome the effect of the shuttling of soluble polysulfides and maximize the battery capacity and energy density ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

MolybdenumSulfur Bond: Electronic Structure of Low-Lying States of MoS

open access: yes, 2022
The molybdenum–sulfur bond plays an important role in many processes such as nitrogen-fixation, and it is found as a building block in layered materials such as MoS2, known for its various shapes and morphologies.

Manno-oligosaccharides as a promising antimicrobial strategy: pathogen inhibition and synergistic effects with antibiotics

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Infections caused by pathogenic bacteria pose a significant health challenge to humans and animals, especially given the rising incidence of antimicrobial resistance.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Micronegatrone pressure converter based on a silicon MOS structure

open access: yesТехнологія та конструювання в електронній апаратурі, 2004
The influence of local anisotropic pressure on a silicon MOS structure has been investigated. It is shown that the increase in inversion capacitance is associated not only with the growth of positive carriers in the oxide at the Si–SiO interface under ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Orbital-selective chemical functionalization of MoS₂ by Fe

open access: yes, 2023
The occupied electron energy bands of monolayer MoS₂ are composed from out-of-plane d orbitals at the Brillouin zone (BZ) center and from in-plane d orbitals at the BZ corner. If a dopant would interact in an orbital selective manner with the MoS₂ bands,
