Artificial mosaics

The Visual Computer, 2005
Art often provides valuable insight that can be applied to technological innovations, especially in the fields of image processing and computer graphics. In this paper we present a method to transform a raster input image into a good-quality mosaic: an “artificial mosaic.” The creation of mosaics of artistic quality is challenging because the tiles ...

Rectified mosaicing: mosaics without the curl

Proceedings IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. CVPR 2000 (Cat. No.PR00662), 2002
When images captured by a tilted camera are mosaiced into a panorama, the resulting mosaic is curled. This happens, for example, with a panning camera that is not perfectly horizontal, and with a translating camera facing a tilted planar surface. The tilt of the camera causes differences in image velocity between the top and bottom parts of the image ...

Mosaicism in genodermatoses

Clinics in Dermatology, 2020
Genodermatoses are inherited disorders presenting with cutaneous manifestations with or without the involvement of other systems. The majority of these disorders, particularly in cases that present with a cutaneous patterning, may be explained in the context of genetic mosaicism.

The Mosaic of Rottlerin

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015
The first total synthesis of rottlerin is described. The methodology allows the development of potential novel protein kinase C δ (PKCδ) analogues for better treatment of various diseases. Kamalachalcone A and dimeric rottlerin were synthesized in a very practical and economical way using FeCl3 as a catalyst.

Mosaics and Watersheds

2005
We investigate the effectiveness of the divide set produced by watershed algorithms. We introduce the mosaic to retrieve the altitude of points along the divide set. A desirable property is that, when two minima are separated by a crest in the original image, they are still separated by a crest of the same altitude in the mosaic. Our main result states

The Big Mosaic

Current Anthropology, 1996

Video mosaics

Proceedings of the 2nd international symposium on Non-photorealistic animation and rendering, 2002
We present a method for creating a video mosaic, a two-dimensional arrangement of small source videos (tiles) that suggests a larger, unified target video. We develop a distance measure to assess the match between source and target based on average color and also three-dimensional wavelet decomposition signatures in the YIQ color space.

A Mosaic of Software

2011 IEEE Seventh International Conference on eScience, 2011
In this paper we describe a Software Server, a background process that in conjunction with a central repository of lightweight wrapper scripts allows functionality within heterogeneous software to be called in a simple and consistent manner. The key role of the Software Server is to provide a common interface to software functionality in a manner that ...

Mosaicism in mammals

Genetica, 1959
Eighteen new cases of colour mosaics are described. Previous reports of mosaics are collocated and briefly discussed. Various mechanisms are described which may engender three types of mosaicism. These are the (1) somatic, (2) the soma-gonadic and (3) the gonadic.
