Characterising resistance to Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) in Turnip (Brassica rapa rapa) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A Brassica rapa rapa L. line has been identified with high resistance to seven isolates of Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) (including UK 1, CHN 5, CZE 1, CDN 1, GBR 6, POL 1 and UK 4) representing the major pathotypes of the virus.

Machine Learning‐Enhanced Random Matrix Theory Design for Human Immunodeficiency Virus Vaccine Development

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study integrates random matrix theory (RMT) and principal component analysis (PCA) to improve the identification of correlated regions in HIV protein sequences for vaccine design. PCA validation enhances the reliability of RMT‐derived correlations, particularly in small‐sample, high‐dimensional datasets, enabling more accurate detection of ...

Trisomy 5p: Long Recognized, Rarely Published‐ Three New Cases and Review of the Literature

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Complete trisomy 5p is a rare chromosomal disorder caused by a duplication of the short arm of chromosome 5. Current data suggest that complete trisomy 5p presents as a distinct clinical syndrome including but not limited to seizures, developmental delays, facial dysmorphisms, failure to thrive, and recurrent respiratory infections.

Buried Treasure? Overlooked and Newly Discovered Evolutionary Contributions to Human Brain Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Recapitulative schema of different exploratory levels of the evolutionary impact on human neurological diseases. Clinical neuroscience focuses on the mechanisms of brain function, but this approach falls short of insights into how the central nervous system (CNS) evolved, both in health and disease.

Several occurrences of osteomyelitis in dinosaurs from a site in the Bauru Group, Cretaceous of Southeast Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the occurrence of osteomyelitis in non‐avian dinosaurs, focusing on the Ibirá locality, a site with a high incidence of this pathological condition. We analyzed six new osteopathic sauropod specimens from the Upper Cretaceous of Brazil.

Inheritance of Resistance to Pea Mosaic Virus in Pisum sativum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The high level of resistance to pea mosaic virus in the pea cultivar Bonneville is conferred by a single recessive gene. This factor, tentatively designated Pmv, is closely linked to mo, cyv, and sbm-2, which confer resistance to bean yellow mosaic virus,
