Femtolitre Volume cryoEM Sample Preparation Using a Force‐Sensitive Microfluidic Cantilever

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Cryogenic electron microscopy enables structural imaging of biological molecules, but current methods lack targeted extraction of subcellular content for direct vitrification. This study introduces a force‐sensitive microfluidic cantilever pipette that aspirates and dispenses femtolitre volumes from individual cells onto electron microscopy grids.

Controlling Pepper Mild Mottle Virus (PMMoV) Infection in Pepper Seedlings by Use of Chemically Synthetic Silver Nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
We investigated the roles of different concentrations of chemical synthetic spherical silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in protecting pepper seedlings of the Mecca region, which were naturally and artificially infected by the pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV).

Identification of viruses in Gramineae growing in the neighbourhood of CIRAD's sugarcane quarantine in Montpellier, France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
CIRAD's sugarcane quarantine imports sugarcane varieties from different countries all over the world. These varieties, imported as cuttings or tissue-cultured plantlets, are likely to harbour pathogenic organisms and especially viruses.

Chloroplast Fibrillin‐Mediated α‐Tocopherol Biosynthesis Impaired by a Virus to Enhance Infection and to Improve Drought Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ToCV‐encoded p22 targets chloroplast plastoglobules (PGs) via directly binding PG structural protein FBN1.1, reducing the size of PG and inhibiting α‐tocopherol biosynthesis via competing with tocopherol cyclase (VTE1). Consequently, the elevated chloroplast ROS not only creates a suitable cellular environment for efficient ToCV infection but also ...

Metagenomic screening of the sugarcane virome in Florida. [P.36] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Viral metagenomics has revolutionized the way pathologists decipher viral diseases. While the impact of this new approach is still debatable in plant virus diagnostics, viral metagenomics has already produced key advances in viral ecology and has the ...

Nucleotide bias of DCL and AGO in plant anti-virus gene silencing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Plant Dicer-like (DCL) and Argonaute (AGO) are the key enzymes involved in anti-virus post-transcriptional gene silencing (AV-PTGS). Here we show that AV-PTGS exhibited nucleotide preference by calculating a relative AV-PTGS efficiency on processing ...

A Modular and Customizable CRISPR/Cas Toolkit for Epigenome Editing of Cis‐regulatory Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epigenome editing surpasses genome editing in gene regulation. Modular epigenome editing frameworks are developed to interrogate cis‐regulome, enabling tunable reprogramming of cis‐elements, uncovering their epigenetic responsiveness and cross‐species portability.

Virus diseases of vegetable crops in southern Bulgaria

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2003
Virus diseases of vegetable crops (mainly tomato, cucumber, pepper and phaseolus bean) were surveyed in 1999 in south-eastern Bulgaria. The most widespread viruses were Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Pepper mild mottle virus ...

Sindbis virus proteins nsP1 and nsP2 contain homology to nonstructural proteins from several RNA plant viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Although the genetic organization of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) differs considerably from that of the tripartite viruses (alfalfa mosaic virus [AlMV] and brome mosaic virus [BMV]), all of these RNA plant viruses share three domains of homology among ...

Single‐Nucleus RNA Sequencing Reveals Mid‐Gestational Neurodevelopment Features in the Superior Temporal Plane from Fetuses with Nonsyndromic Cleft Lip and Palate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of mid‐gestation brains from fetuses with nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate reveals major disruptions in cell composition, cell‐to‐cell signaling, and gene regulation. The transcription factor MEF2C is identified as a central regulator of these changes and shows that lowering MEF2C impairs synapse formation, linking cleft ...
