Photodegradation of commercial insect repellents containing DEET and IR‐3535 under ultraviolet light associated or not with chemical ultraviolet filters evaluated by Raman spectroscopy

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the photodegradation of commercial insect repellents containing DEET and IR‐3535 under UV‐A and UV‐B irradiation using Raman spectroscopy. Pure DEET and IR‐3535 showed intrinsic photostability, whereas DEET diluted in ethanol and a commercial DEET‐based formulation exhibited significant spectral changes after UV exposure.

On the Limits of Intransitive Coordination

open access: yesRatio, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A growing number of authors suggest that concept coordination—the kind of relation we pick out when we say that the concepts of one or more individuals represent something as the same—is not a transitive relation. Here we consider global features of representational systems to break new ground in the assessment of the intransitivity view. From

High and dry: the persistence of diverse coastal marsh communities depends on available upland area and connection to surrounding waters

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Sea‐level‐rise and alterations to natural hydrology have contributed to coastal land loss. To combat coastal land loss and maintain the ecosystem services provided by marshes, marsh creation has been broadly implemented. Marsh creation projects can be performed in conjunction with the construction of elevated terrestrial ridges that seek to mimic ...

Turf Protection or Policy Expansion? How European Agencies Shape Their Reputation Through Social Media Communication

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We approach public communication of bureaucratic organizations as a means of reputation management and argue that social media communication that abstains from making reference to other agencies is in line with a turf‐protective strategy, whereas communication that seeks to establish a link to other agencies is in line with a strategy to ...
