The β3‐subunit modulates the effect of venom peptides ProTx‐II and OD1 on NaV1.7 gating

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 238, Issue 6, Page 1354-1367, June 2023., 2023
Abstract The voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.7 is involved in various pain phenotypes and is physiologically regulated by the NaV‐β3‐subunit. Venom toxins ProTx‐II and OD1 modulate NaV1.7 channel function and may be useful as therapeutic agents and/or research tools.

The magic of MAGI‐1: A scaffolding protein with multi signalosomes and functional plasticity

open access: yesBiology of the Cell, Volume 114, Issue 7, Page 185-198, July 2022., 2022
Summary of published MAGI‐1 functions Abstract MAGI‐1 is a critical cellular scaffolding protein with over 110 different cellular and microbial protein interactors. Since the discovery of MAGI‐1 in 1997, MAGI‐1 has been implicated in diverse cellular functions such as polarity, cell–cell communication, neurological processes, kidney function, and a ...

Genetic Analysis in a Familial Case With High Bone Mineral Density Suggests Additive Effects at Two Loci

open access: yesJBMR Plus, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2022., 2022
ABSTRACT Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease, characterized by a low bone mineral density (BMD) and increased risk of fracture. At the other end of the BMD spectrum, some individuals present strong, fracture‐resistant, bones. Both osteoporosis and high BMD are heritable and their genetic architecture encompasses polygenic inheritance of common

Acetate ion augmented fluorescence sensing of Zn2+ by Salen‐based probe, AIE character, and application for picric acid detection

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 2, Issue 9-10, Page 447-463, October 2021., 2021
Abstract Counter anion‐triggered metal ion detection has been rarely reported by fluorimetric method. To address this challenging issue, a fluorescent probe (H2L) has been synthesized from bromo‐salicylaldehyde and hydrazine hydrate, and structurally characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction.

Lamina‐specific properties of spinal astrocytes

open access: yesGlia, Volume 69, Issue 7, Page 1749-1766, July 2021., 2021
Main Points In‐depth characterization of spinal astrocytes in the upper dorsal horn of mice. Distinct lamina‐ and circuit‐specific properties of spinal astrocytes. Fine‐tuning of astrocytic properties for the integration of nociceptive versus tactile information. Abstract Astrocytes are indispensable for proper neuronal functioning.

Nonsuicidal Self-Injury in Bangladesh: A Narrative Review. [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Sci Rep
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Nonsuicidal self‐injury (NSSI) has received global academic attention in recent decades. However, little is known about NSSI behavior in Bangladesh. We aimed to overview NSSI in Bangladesh based on available evidence. Methods PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Google, and BanglaJOL were searched to identify the research ...

Pentaplex real‐time PCR for differential detection of Yersinia pestis and Y. pseudotuberculosis and application for testing fleas collected during plague epizootics

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Upon acquiring two unique plasmids (pMT1 and pPCP1) and genome rearrangement during the evolution from Yersinia pseudotuberculosis, the plague causative agent Y. pestis is closely related to Y. pseudotuberculosis genetically but became highly virulent. We developed a pentaplex real‐time PCR assay that not only detects both Yersinia species but

Differential expression of microRNA in serum fractions and association of Argonaute 1 microRNAs with heart failure

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 24, Issue 12, Page 6586-6595, June 2020., 2020
Abstract The serum or plasma microRNA (miRNA) molecules have been suggested as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, in various pathological conditions. However, these molecules are also found in different serum fractions, such as exosomes and Argonaute (Ago) protein complexes. Ago1 is the predominant Ago protein expressed in heart tissue.
