Real-Time Foot-Ground Contact Detection for Inertial Motion Capture Based on an Adaptive Weighted Naive Bayes Model

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Detecting foot-ground contact is important for inertial motion capture systems because it can provide kinematic constraints to improve human motion capture accuracy.

Motion capture is motion integration

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2010
The phenomenon of “motion capture†has been described as a suppression of the motion of high spatial-frequency (SF) elements in favor of the motion of low SF components, allowing larger forms to capture their smaller features when they move (e.g., Ramachandran, 1990).

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Influence of the Camera Viewing Angle on OpenPose Validity in Motion Analysis

open access: yesSensors
(1) Background: With human pose estimation on the rise in the field of biomechanics, the need for scientific investigation of those algorithms is becoming evident. The validity of several of those algorithms has been presented in the literature. However,

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Evaluation of 3D Markerless Motion Capture Accuracy Using OpenPose With Multiple Video Cameras

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2019
There is a need within human movement sciences for a markerless motion capture system, which is easy to use and suffciently accurate to evaluate motor performance.
