Physics in motion

Proceedings of the 2011 conference on Information technology education, 2011
Students in computer science and information technology should be engaged in solving real-world problems received from government and industry as well as those that expose them to various areas of application. This paper summarizes the results of an undergraduate research project between students in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology

Molecular motion watched

Nature, 2013
A laser pulse can switch certain crystals from an insulating phase to a highly conducting phase. The ultrafast molecular motions that drive the transition have been directly observed using electron diffraction.

The Physics of Labyrinthine Motion Stimulus

Neurologic Clinics, 1990
This article attempts to demonstrate that by means of a single vertical axis rotary chair, motion stimuli can be selectively presented to any one pair of sensors in the labyrinths of the vestibular peripheral end organs, to the exclusion of the others by means of appropriate motion profiles and coupling of the sensors and the stimuli.

Feeling the physics of linear motion

The Physics Teacher, 1998
In this article we will describe some large-scale macro-experiments in which the student is actually part of the experimental apparatus itself. This allows the student to actually feel physical phenomena for him/herself. This sensory experience helps students develop an intuitive understanding of physical phenomena, and it’s great fun!

The motion of massless object and the physical essence and motion law of light

2022
Einstein's theory of special relativity is based on two basic assumptions, one is the "principle of special relativity" and the other is the "principle of constant speed of light" . The "principle of constant speed of light" of special relativity holds that the speed of light in vacuum is invariable relative to any reference system.

A course in physics of human motion

American Journal of Physics, 1975
A course in elementary mechanics especially designed for students of athletics and dance is described. The course has been taught for two years at the University of Minnesota. Innovative features include a gymnasium laboratory utilizing an inexpensive photographic technique for analysis of human motion.

Observed Ground Motions, Extreme Ground Motions, and Physical Limits to Ground Motions

2006
This paper examines whether the extremely high ground motion values that are calculated for probabilistic seismic hazard analyses in critical facilities are physically attainable.

Physics of Eidetic Motion

1992
The arguments developed in this chapter concern what one might call, in its widest sense, the physical “drives” of eidetic motion. As with every other aspect of the eidetic function, the motion of eidetic subsystems may be viewed from different points.

The Physics of the Retograde Motion of the Electric Arc

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1981
The retrograde motion of the cathodic arc attachment point in a transverse magnetic field is examined and is attributed to the asymmetrical confinement of the cathode spot plasma which results from the asymmetrical combination of the self and applied magnetic fields.
