Improving the Evaluation and Management of Transfusion‐Related Iron Overload in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults Following Cancer Treatment or Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Transfusion‐related iron overload (TRIO) is a late effect of therapy impacting survivors of childhood cancer and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) who receive frequent packed red blood cell (pRBC) transfusions. Surprisingly, there are no accepted guidelines to assist providers in identifying and treating at‐risk ...

Investigations into Motion Responses of Suspended Submersible in Internal Solitary Wave Field

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
When the underwater submersible encounters an internal solitary wave (ISW), its loadings and motions are significantly disturbed. To investigate the interaction mechanism between the suspended submersible and the ISW, a three-dimensional ISW–submersible ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Study on the Coupled Dynamic Responses of a Submerged Floating Wind Turbine under Different Mooring Conditions

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
A submerged floating offshore wind turbine (SFOWT) is proposed for intermediate water depth (50⁻200 m). An aero-hydro-servo-elastic-mooring coupled dynamic analysis was carried out to investigate the coupled dynamic response of the SFOWT under ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
